Maeve Greyson unleashes a thrilling tale of magic and desire as a feisty Southern gal falls into the arms of a rough-hewn Highland chieftain. As the proprietor of a homeopathic store in rural Kentucky, Trulie Sinclair knows that her neighbors think she’s strange—but they have no idea how strange she really is. Trulie was born in Scotland in the thirteenth century to a line of time-traveling Highlanders. When Trulie’s grandmother convinces her to return to their homeland, Trulie jumps back in time, right onto the powerful chest of Gray MacKenna. Just as his steely good looks send ripples through her body, their fierce attraction will send ripples through the ages. After his parents are murdered, Gray is consumed by thoughts of revenge. As the new chieftain of the MacKenna clan, he has reason to believe that there’s a traitor in his midst, and nothing—not even the bonny lass who suddenly drops from the sky—can distract him from his single-minded pursuit of the culprit. But when Gray learns that this sassy beauty possesses gifts beyond the sparkle in her eye, he allows his gaze, and his heart, to linger. While he hunts for the murderer, Gray finds in Trulie a precious companion—and a timeless love.Praise for My Highland Lover “One of those books that stay in your mind long after you have finished reading it . . . By Gaele The first in a new, unique and very exciting series, Maeve Greyson mixes magic, highlanders, a touch of mystery and historical romance together into a big pot and comes up with a story that I read straight through without coming up for air.Trulie is busily running a homeopathic store in Kentucky. There’s a little twist, Trulie was actually born in the 13th century, and has time-hopped to modern day. But, her grandmother has plans for Trulie back in their homeland, and she convinces Trulie to return and help to sort out some issues in the highlands.Gray McKenna is the new chieftan of the clan, and he’s got more than clan welfare on his mind. His parents were murdered, and he is determined to exact revenge for their deaths. Believing he has a traitor in the clan is only one of his issues, because out of nowhere a woman has appeared. Her beauty and the mystery that surrounds her appearance is not to be denied, and soon Gray’s focus is split between Trulie and his need for revenge. The interaction (and introduction) of these two was marvelous: neither was quite prepared for the instant attraction, nor how well suited they are for one another. Trulie is not thrilled to lose the mod cons she has come to enjoy, but her belief in her grandmother’s opinion that there is something for her to do in her own time have her convinced to give it her all. Completely modern in her approach, her stubbornness and her openly expressed opinions, Gray is flummoxed even as he is intrigued and frustrated.Bit by bit Greyson weaves the tale, as Trulie reveals more of herself and her abilities she is able to see the hurts that have come to Gray, and the fierceness with which he intends to fulfill his role as chieftain. With a tiny hiccup in the flow as the focus shifts away from our couple and their electric chemistry to solving the murders and some interesting and surprising revelations the story soon regains traction and becomes a mad dash to the end. Passionate and emotional with several moments that will leave you breathless, Greyson has created a book that is hard to put down and even harder to forget. I can’t wait for the next in the series.I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

And I want that dress that the woman is wearing, it's fantastic. I would hit up a Renaissance Fair or some Highland Games in that for sure. The Highland Hearts series is going to be a light and fun series featuring a family of time traveling women with ties to 13th Century Scotland. Granny is cute as can be - she reminds me of a spry Sophia from Golden Girls. Her dedication to her family knows no bounds - even giving up her opportunity for love to take care of her grandchildren. Our main characters in this story are Trulie and Gray. Trulie has been living in modern-day Kentucky, where the family time-jumped to get medical care some 15 years ago. Although she was born in the 13th Century, Trulie is for all intents and purposes, a modern girl. For reasons you will discover, Trulie and Granny go back to the 13th Century where Trulie meets Gray and falls in love while she helps him discover who means harm to him and his clan. Despite her dress and lack of technology, Trulie continues to be a modern girl in historical times.Gray is the quintessential Highland chieftain, even though he did not expect to be in that position as he is the illegitimate son of the former chieftain and his leman. Regardless, he is full of pride and bluster, and is used to getting his own way. He quickly learns that will not be the case when it comes to the beautiful lass who literally fell from the sky and into his lap. The relationship unfolded between Gray and Trulie at a nice pace without either fighting it too hard. Gray honestly cared for Trulie and did not want her to suffer as his mother did w/ the ostracization of being a mistress, so he seeks to legitimize their union in the typical male fashion of telling her what she will do. You can imagine how that went over with a spirited modern woman! The story is full of drama and betrayal, so there are several peaks where you think the story has culminated and will end, but it continues on to another type of drama. The pace moved along well for the most part... but there were several times in the middle where I felt we were reading on fast forward and too many details had been edited out. But this is a well-rounded story with romance, murder, family drama, emotional drama and a happy ending. Overall it was a good start to the series and I will definitely keep reading.

They’re time jumpers and Nia Sinclair has decided that it’s high time for her eldest grand-daughter to return to her true home to settle down. For Trulie Sinclair, that means leaving her sisters in Kentucky current day and jumping back in time to thirteenth century Scotland - a place and time when those less ordinary faced bleak futures. The last thing Chieftain Gray MacKenna ever expected was for Trulie Sinclair to come raining from the sky. She arrives with a bang and turns his entire world upside-down. He knows that with Trulie’s gifts, he can uncover the traitor lurking at MacKenna Keep. Together, the two of them can save his clan - and perhaps find love along the way.‘My Highland lover’ combines two of my favorite fiction elements: time travel and Scotland. Being a huge fan of Outlander, I was drawn to the description of this novel. I’m going to be honest though, and say that I wasn’t blown away. Perhaps it’s because I can’t help but compare the story to Outlander and The Fever series - which is really not fair on Ms Greyson, since the novels are completely different. The storyline, I felt, would have been far more powerful with fewer subplots. I would have liked to see more drama and suspense and a lot more conflict between the characters. The characters themselves were difficult to connect with and a tad boring at times. I almost feel that the ending should have been about three quarters of the way through the novel, but then additional characters and plot lines were written in to get to the desired word count. That said, I did enjoy this novel. It was light and entertaining, perfect for escape reading. The character of Nia Sinclair was one of the highlights - she’s stubborn, funny and cheeky, and I bet she has lots more adventures in store for the rest of the Sinclair clan!
