She holds a masters degree in American studies, specializing in cemetery landscapes and is a member of the Association for Gravestone Studies. She currently works for Missouri State Parks and lives in the St. Louis area. Lorelei Shannon has been Victorias friend for thirty-five years and counting. They share a love of dark history and co-authored a book on the life of Madame Lalaurie.

5 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Truly a mess By Lin-( Nerdy Bookworm) I'm extremely surprised at all the good reviews this book got. I managed to finish this book, but it was really out of curiosity. The first novel was better than this one while this storyline was weak and unfinished with unrealistic characters with unrealistic events. It's just all kind of middle of the road, trudging along and having sex like bunnies.The book was hurried to compact several thing going on while confusing the reader and losing the true plot.

4 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Stephanie: Ungrateful, Inconsiderate, Selfish By VivLA Uh, we get two names in this book (Stephanie, the heroine and Prescott, the criminal). It's more than we got for the other books in the series.This story started off interesting with the assassin scoping out his target, Stephanie, who seems very nice in that part. Then the book went downhill from there. They are forced to spend time together because he is trying to keep her safe, but they can barely tolerate each other. And that's after they had sex. Stephanie is a target hunted by at least three different factions and she blames him for her predicament. Never mind that he saved her life and faked her death so that she could have a chance to live. But because she had to give up her family, her friends and her job she hates him for it. I guess if he would have killed her instead she would have kept everything...stupid woman. At one point, she's so pissed off, she rides him gets her release then walks away, leaving him unsatisfied. She's selfish, inconsiderate and ungrateful. I could barely finish reading this book and almost stopped a couple of times, but I wanted to see how they would get out of the situation with the contract killers.

This is a love story wrapped around a suspenseful drama with lots of surprises. And oh yeah some misdirection thrown in there too. Again I only have the name of one of the main characters Stephanie however our Alpha male assassin no name was ever given. I know that was weird ! However it works it definitely adds to the suspense of the story. I don't want to give away the story but definitely our assassin finds redemption at the end of the story! I really wish the story was longer. I really didn't wanted to end. I totally recommend this book if I could give it six stars I would. The Assassin (Men Who Thrill Book 2), by Kaye Blue

Aimed at the person who is seeking to understand more of what motivates them. The book is designed to stimulate self contemplation, to cut through the clutter of life to its core values and meanings to you. The initial chapters are most thought provoking. For someone looking to work in media professions, the book will offer insights that could improve your active listening skills as well.For me the book too quickly moved to exercises,although they are interspersed with more insights. The book is laid out to allow you to write in the book, basically the pauses in the reading/tapes where you explore the meaning for you. For me the spaces allowed were way too small,but logically cannot be bigger as the book would then be too large with empty pages. I found overly constricting the request to select just one dream, one favorite story, five greatest insights. Another day I would make different selections.I would recommend this book as a fairly complete step by step self-analysis programme, with the second-question slant that I have not seen elsewhere.

About the Author Martin Esten is a contemporary spiritual writer who is not affiliated with any particular religion or form of spirituality. He was born and raised in Czechoslovakia and immigrated to the US at the age of twenty-three. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley holding a degree in Religious Studies with an emphasis in the Buddhism. He was raised in a secular environment and was therefore not conditioned by any religious thoughts or ideas before the age of thirty. His own inner experiences and insights brought him to spirituality at the age of twenty-eight. He does not have a permanent home or address, but spends most of his time in Berkeley, California.

Before long, prisoners were running the jail. The door between the female and male sections of the jail was opened, paying inmates could enjoy conjugal visits in their cells, and the jail was open to visitors 24/7. Johnny Dowd turned the jail's infirmary into a casino, with table games, dice, and a 24 hour a day high stakes poker game. Prisoners were allowed to take cabs to play golf at a nearby course. Not satisfied, Johnny opened a high end restaurant and nightclub in the jail and invited the public to stop by after the legitimate bars closed for the night. With things running to his satisfaction, Johnny hit upon the idea of renting jail cells to criminals on the lam from Chicago and New York. Who would ever think to look for a fugitive in a jail? And the accommodations were first class! Chicago mobster Easy Eddie O'Hare rented a cell to hide out from Al Capone's gunmen. New York mobsters rented some cells and then opened a laundry in downtown Boston, using the jail's washing machines, soap and water. Alas, all good things must come to an end, and Johnny Dowd was indicted. He fled, leading to a two year manhunt worthy of the Keystone Kops. This is the true story of how crooked sheriff turned Boston's City Jail into a luxury hotel for criminals. Irony prevails, as the structure is now preserved as one of Boston's finest luxury hotels for the rest of us, proving Johnny Dowd was a man ahead of his times.

Unfortunately for Johnny, he never had a money making idea that was actually legal, and over the long term that will be the grifter pol‘s undoing. At least it was in Johnny's case, because he was not one for the modest bribe or kickback. No, Johnny thought big. So big that the sheer audacity of his schemes was bound to come to the attention of real law enforcement figures. Oddly enough the site of Sheriff Dowd’s many crimes, the old Charles St. Jail that he turned into a luxury home for crooks who could pay, has actually been rehabbed into a real a luxury hotel. It would seem too odd to be true but as always Halley delivers a well-researched true account that is also deliciously funny. The illustrations are great too. You’ll want to check in to the luxury lockup.

Its tale of blatant corruption in Boston is hilarious. And its main character -- and he is a real character -- has the Midas touch when it comes to jails. Everything he touches turns to pure gold for him -- limos for the inmates, five star meals with an open bar for the cons who can afford it, and an open cell door, speak-easy approach to the male and female convicts, and rent-a-cells for felons on the run.If Luxury Lockup was only the product of the author's fervid imagination, it would be worth reading. On the wave of notorious Boston criminal Whitey Bulger's capture, the fact that Luxury Lockup is non-fiction is almost impossible for the reader to believe between outbursts of laughter and disbelief at the perverse, hedonistic shenanigans of "Sheriff" Johnny Dowd and his cronies--and "guests". By MsRomanticReads Purchased and read as part of the Supernatural anthology.The vampire Uriel had always wanted a mate, but ever since he’d been marked by a Jinn and his powers grew exponentially, he gave up on that dream for fear he could potentially harm anyone close to him. He got tasked with rescuing the mother of a halfbreed Jinn because it was deemed a danger that she could be used as leverage to hand over a child that was the key to the resurrection of the Dark Lord. With Uriel’s hatred of Jinns or anything involving them, he was less than enthused with his mission.The gypsies Kata, and her twin sister, Marika had always been inseparable. Then Marika was kidnapped and turned into a vampire. Any trace of Kata’s sister was gone forever, and in her place was a power-hungry, evil [blank] who’d teamed up with a wizard with plans on resurrecting the Dark Lord. Marika had captured Kata and forced a Jinn upon her, and the result was Laylah.Fast forward to the rescue, instal-attraction sparks between Kata and Uriel, and they momentarily forgot their hatred of Jinns and vampires. Before they could escape, they got sucked into the underworld. Marika somehow returned from the dead to fight them, Kata and Uriel succumbed to their lust, more battling, then the mystery behind Uriel’s mark was solved. End of story.The sex was hot, and the suspense was good. I also liked these two as a couple. Kata was a feisty heroine, not at all whiny, demanding or spineless. Uriel started out as a broody hero but he quickly warmed with his rising interest in Kata. They got intimate very quickly, but for a novella in the middle of a series, I suspect this was a treat for fans of the series. I thought it was fitting but still very well-written and executed.Alexandra Ivy was a new to me author, so this anthology was a great opportunity to get acquainted with her writing. I must say, I really enjoyed it.

Darkness Eternal falls between books 7 and 8 of the series and is sure to bring a smile to long time readers. As readers await the final book in the series, this is a story that will remind them of all the things they loved about Alexandra Ivy's series in the first place. There is love, adventure, and a whole lot of action in this one, readers won't be able to put it down for a second.Alexandra Ivy is a great paranormal writer and the Guardians of Eternity series is beloved by many readers. When I heard that this story was going to be released as a novella, I was really excited. It first appeared in Supernatural, as one of a few other paranormal stories. But having it stand on it's own as a part of the series, was really great. The timing and placement of this novella falls between Tane and Layleh's story and Ariyal and Jaelyn's story. I think it is important the reader read Devoured by Darkness which explains some about Layleh's mother, Kata who is the heroine of this story. I does stand on it's own but I think the reader misses out on some of the nuances of the story if they don't know what has gone on before.Kata was a great character. Since this is a novella we don't get a lot of time to spend with her character. I think Ivy realized that readers needed to connect quickly and strongly with her. Kata has been held captive for centuries by her evil vampire twin sister, who wants nothing more than to torture and use her. Now that she's escaped she has to learn who she is without Markita's domination. I thought she was interesting and unpredictable. I wanted Kata to be this strong and imposing woman, but she really had some issues to overcome. A great character.Uriel was simply a wonderful hero. He is a vampire and his strength and poise is impressive. He is a loyal man who does everything he can for his friend and master, Victor. Victor asks him to protect Layleh's mother, Kata and once he makes the decision to do so, it doesn't matter what happens he is going to do it. I loved his determination in spite of his issues with the Jinn. He and Kata have a lot to overcome in very few pages. The journey they take through hell provides tons of action and these two really light up the pages with their passionate chemistry and unrelenting spirits.Bottom Line:This is a great novella for readers who love the Guardians of Eternity series. I don't think I would pick this one to read first if you've never read any others in the series, just because this one requires a little background because of the short page length. The characters were amazing and the story has a lot of adventure. Readers who love Alexandra Ivy will love this one. I was glad to see it in a novella by itself and I think it adds a lot to the series.

By Sofia Torosian To tell you the truth, I had no idea that the author was planning on releasing a novella for the Guardians of Eternity series, not that I’m complaining. Darkness Eternal should be read after Devoured by Darkness (Layla and Tane’s story) and before Bound by Darkness (Ariyal and Jaelyn’s story).As Victor’s right hand, Uriel can’t but follow his master’s orders. So, when Victor orders him to find and rescue Layla’s mother, Uriel must obey.Held prisoner by her evil vampire twin for 400 years, Kata has finally found the means to escape only to fall into another vampire’s hands. As if that wasn’t enough, Kata is literally thrown into hell and if she wants to survive she must learn to trust Uriel. Only if they work together will they be able to survive hell.A suspenseful romantic short story about two souls who have been through a lot. Uriel is a loyal, strong, determined alpha male who would never fail his master and friend Victor. It may have started as a mission but it turned into something that neither Uriel nor Kata expected. All Kata ever wanted was her freedom and a chance to meet her daughter. Despite what her sister did to her, Kata’s spirit never weakened. So, when Uriel tags along to the journey through hell, Kata isn’t sure if she should trust him. After being alone for so long, Kata yearns to be touched but is Uriel the right choice? Little does she know that Uriel has his own secrets…This isn’t only a romantic story. It also has a lot of action as it follows Kata and Uriel’s journey through hell and their trust issues.What I also loved was seeing Victor. I had forgotten how much I loved Victor and Juliet and this book gave me the excuse I needed to re-read their story, Yours for Eternity. Moreover, if you’re a new reader of the series then I definitely recommend reading this novella as it will prepare you for Bound by Darkness.I thoroughly enjoyed the book!Totally recommended!

By Jeanette Michalets Passionate, often poignant, and always thought provoking, Linda Flashinski's essays reveal her deep inner spirit and her love of justice, family and the beautiful planet we all call home. She writes beautifully about life, love and loss and of her search to better understand her own journey. One of my favorite passages is from the essay titled, "Rocks, Inner and Outer." Flashinski quotes a journal entry she wrote in her youth. "'I hold the rock inside my hand, and it is cool and formed and beautiful. I, who have never felt quite finished, stare at the perfection of its lines, and hope for transformations yet to come.'" The author has been transformed over the course of her life by the joy of family and the heart-rending loss of loved ones, including the death of her young daughter. Despite her losses, she has been able to continue putting pen to paper and believing in the redemptive powers of love and hope. Writing on subjects ranging from activism to women's rights to ecology, the author never seems to lose faith in humanity or the power of people to effect change. Another favorite passage for me is the one that concludes, "Thanks for Giving." "And so we say farewell when we must. And keep alive within ourselves the gift of gratitude interwoven within the joys and the sorrows of this immensely complicated, immensely precious journey that is ours."An added bonus are the well-chosen photographs of the author as a child and some "vintage" photos of her parents and family members.

Having had numerous conversations with her, as well as reading her columns when published in our local newspaper, I found the book written as if she was speaking to me directly. The book is a compilation of incidents that touched the author's life. Linda writes in a very personalized style, sharing life moments to which most readers can relate. I found this book to be the perfect "summer read!"

He became a chief minister (equivalent to governor in the United States) and then prime minister (equivalent to the president in the United States) of India. Narendra Modi is the fifteenth prime minister of India and a leader of the Bharatia Janta Party. He also served as the chief minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014. When Narendra Modi assumed the power of chief minister, people visited and requested he provide electricity at least during their dinnertime. Because of his hard work and determination, electricity is now provided twenty-four hours a day and 365 days a year in Gujarat, where getting electricity twenty-four hours a day had been a dream. As chief minister, Modi made it possible. In India, where migration from rural villages to urban cities is common, Modi was able to reverse the migration in Gujarat. Gujarat was once a place where industrialists hesitated to invest; Modi was able to attract billions of dollars of investment to Gujarat. How is this all possible for a poor tea vendor? He had very little, but everything was waiting for him. In Indian parliamentary elections, a single-party majority was impossible. In the past thirty years, no party had obtained a complete majority. The government was formed with a coalition of parties. Modi is the leader who brought a complete majority (a majority requires 272 parliamentary members; he was able to get 336 members) to a single party. With his landslide win in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Narendra Modi has rewritten the rules of the game and redefined Indian politics. How all this possible for a poor tea seller?
