By Garry Rindfuss I have thoroughly enjoyed this series of which this is the fourth volume. As a resident of lower Manhattan, one is always encountering a new location with a fascinating history, and this series of books is the perfect companion on a walking tour of this remarkable city.

Ebook PDF Kissing Frogs, by Courtney Jacqueline Palm

After years of people constantly saying to me “Courtney, you really should be writing a book with all of these dating stories you have”, I finally took the plunge and put pen to paper. It was time for me to share the utterly amazing and often ridiculous circumstances I always seemed to find myself in when it involved a person of the opposite sex. If I was going to be one of the poster children for living the single life, I realized I might as well use it as some form of entertainment for others to enjoy. Kissing Frogs begins with a prologue, painting the picture of a single girl looking for love. As the book unfolds, it delivers funny, horrifying, sad, exciting, disappointing, and any other word one can and would use to describe the dates we've all gone on and experienced, with the mere purpose of bringing a deeper understanding of what dating life was like. My journey and self-evolution is meant to relate to those also living the single life; maybe it will bring them some peace of mind that they are not alone, as I had lived the same dating nightmares they are. Or maybe it will give them hope and the same determination I had to never give up on what they want for themselves; that there is power in discovering that only they get to determine what that looks like for themselves. When I initially stepped out in to the single scene in NYC in the early 2000’s, it is clear nothing could have prepared me for the treacherous waters of dating and the various experiences I would have over the years I remained single. But no matter what frustrations, disappointments, or heartache I endured, I never gave up on what I was truly out to find. Dating for roughly ten years not only provided me with memorable experiences, but in some ways it truly made me a “dating expert”. The short stories are in chronological order so there is a flow that occurs. I sew the pieces together, and show the evolution of my approach to dating by threading in the lessons I learned from every man and situation I found myself in. I had my heart broken , I broke hearts, I left a date after twenty minutes, I stayed in a relationship merely for the physical benefits, I experienced over-seas and cross-country relationships, I went out with men I met through numerous dating sites, I was set up by friends and co-workers, and I was picked up by and picked up men in a bar. When it came to dating, I had pretty much done it all! Whether you are a twenty, thirty, or forty something single lady living the same “nightmares” I had, a single guy wanting to know why a girl doesn't accept that second date or a “married since nearly puberty” gal who can’t understand what her single best friend’s dating life is like, there is something for everyone in Kissing Frogs!

A Courageous Autobiography About Finding Love By David Reynolds Courtney Jacqueline Palm is a modern day truth teller, as she reflects on her ten years of dating in Urban America with this refreshing, courageous autobiography. Her topic is Love, and her quest is to find Real Love. Instead, she finds herself in the ultimate of soul searches, and through her many dating experiences, gains extraordinary wisdom about what it means to be a human being, and to be vulnerable. Each chapter describes one of the many "Frogs" that she experienced in her search for her better half. Palm is so gifted at pulling the reader directly into the moment, as if we are sitting at the table and wondering if Real Love has finally arrived. She uses humor and heartache seamlessly. I found myself laughing in one moment, and feeling the sting of rejection and disappointment in the next. She concludes each chapter with a "Dating Lesson Learned." These gems of wisdom are absolutely brilliant, and I am awe of Palm's ability to articulate the human experience in such a clear and concise voice. Her "Dating Lessons Learned" are validating, empowering, and thought provoking, and I have found myself quoting them in so many conversations since. I highly recommend this book for anyone who has ever loved, or wanted to be loved. All readers will see themselves in Palm's autobiography. This book is truly a gift to the world.

By Brittany Personally, my anticipation for this book was sky-high, because the day I met Courtney, we were at a holiday dinner party where the young women on the team that she managed were openly discussing the trials and tribulations of dating. She just so happened to mention that she had a book in the works that touches upon a variety of topics that surfaced that evening. For me, Courtney instantly became the most interesting person in the room, and I continued to keep in touch/follow-up with her until her book was published.Courtney's account of dating is something that all women even men, can relate to. Her candid dating stories, sprinkled with honest lessons in-between, makes her book not only a great story, but helpful tool. The moments that I enjoyed the most are where you can see the personal growth that she is undergoing as time goes on and her character develops through time. Her book is a refreshing tale about dating in the 21st century and finding the one is worth the wait,

The book is insightful and enlightening. She regales her story with wit and humor, analyzing each situation followed with lessons learned. Although she proclaims that she is not a professional writer, I believe the book is entertaining and has enough substance to which we can all relate as women (and men) who have participated in the complicated world of dating. I recommend this book to those who are trying to find a meaningful relationship, or to people who want to better understand the opposite sex, or to those who just want to be entertained by a variety of dating vignettes. Through her " escapades" and adventures, Courtney offers noteworthy suggestions on how to navigate the sometimes murky but always captivating waters of the dating game. You may laugh, snicker, and even shed a few tears as you follow Courtney's odyssey. Happy reading.

Ebook PDF Online A Taste of Power: Food and American Identities (California Studies in Food and Culture), by Katharina Vester

Since the founding of the United States, culinary texts and practices have played a crucial role in the making of cultural identities and social hierarchies. A Taste of Power examines culinary writing and practices as forces for the production of social order and, at the same time, points of cultural resistance. Culinary writing has helped shape dominant ideas of nationalism, gender, and sexuality, suggesting that eating right is a gateway to becoming an American, a good citizen, an ideal man, or a perfect wife and mother. In this brilliant interdisciplinary work, Katharina Vester examines how cookbooks became a way for women to participate in nation-building before they had access to the vote or public office, for Americans to distinguish themselves from Europeans, for middle-class authors to assert their class privileges, for men to claim superiority over women in the kitchen, and for lesbian authors to insert themselves into the heteronormative economy of culinary culture. A Taste of Power engages in close reading of a wide variety of sources and genres to uncover the intersections of food, politics, and privilege in American culture.

A Taste of Power: Food and American Identities (California Studies in Food and Culture), by Katharina Vester

From the Inside Flap “A highly original, well-theorized analysis of how over 200 years' worth of American cooking literature reveals changes in cultural identities. Framing a narrative around questions of power and hegemony, Vester breathes new life into the cliché, ‘You are what you eat.’”—Warren Belasco, author of Meals to Come: A History of the Future of Food

"Through a series of zesty readings, A Taste of Power teaches us how to parse the politics of cooking and eating. A keen cultural analyst, Vester shows how the salt of normativity and the pepper of resistance have infused the recipes we live by and thus every bite we eat."—Kristin Hoganson, author of Consumers’ Imperium: The Global Production of American Domesticity

"Vester takes everyday acts, like cooking, and masterfully illustrates their connections to larger cultural questions, such as sexuality. A Taste of Power proves that nothing is off the table in discussions of food and power."—Amy Bentley, author of Inventing Baby Food: Taste, Health, and the Industrialization of the American Diet

About the Author Katharina Vester is Assistant Professor of History at American University in Washington, DC, where she teaches in the American Studies program.

By Mannyz Palomo While the literal reading of Katharina Vester’s A Taste of Power is quite dry and difficult due to the relatively fragmented and unclear style in which she presents, the actual content is well researched and her point is concise once you dig through the dull presentation of her facts. After each point is presented she brings forth either a primary source in reference or a resource produced by qualified peers. On top of this she illustrates the extent of her research with a 43 page section of notes and works cited following the end of the book. The search for an American culinary identity is quite a difficult task and yet Vester goes headstrong into the challenge in the first “part” of her book. She discusses the creation of a republican cuisine thats purpose is to be different from the waste of British imperial tendencies. The republican way of eating is presented as being one of simplicity and lack of waste. She seasons this first portion of her work with primary sources, artwork from the nineteenth century and an analysis of perspectives of different researchers. She comes to the conclusion that there is no single or simple recipe for American identity. After the establishment of American identity (or the lack of) Vester goes on to discuss the masculinity aspect of cuisine and the bridge between men, women, and cuisine. Women were expected to be more than adequate in the creation of dishes yet when men cooked it was suddenly noble and elite. The quote of “Women are cooks, men are chefs” really stands out in this chapter and demonstrates the semi-disturbing point of view American society had (and to some extent has) on gender and cooking. Vester then concludes the gender argument by pointing out the shift from women cooking as a social standard to a form of power expressed in the 20th and 21st centuries.

We Are What We Read By JSted In A Taste of Power, Katharina Vester employs a discursive methodology to explore three sets of American cookbooks differentiated by their primary audiences. While thoroughly researched and well-written, the result is uneven in its ability to inform and educate. The most fully developed section contains a comprehensive description of The Autobiography of Alice B. Toklas and The Alice B. Toklas Cookbook, the latter having inspired numerous lesbian authors to write cookbook/memoirs in the last sixty years. Descriptions of these authors’ search for identity and their struggle to sublimate a heteronormative upbringing replete with memories of shopping, cooking and dining with now-estranged family members are the most compelling aspect of this book. Lack of cohesion hinders the section about Post-Revolutionary America’s search for a national cuisine. Three cookbooks and a servant’s guide, augmented by correspondence, satirical poetry and paintings are presented in a somewhat disjointed manner. Unclear is the imperative of defining a national cuisine for the young republic; is it only to avoid the label of provincialism? Vester does make it clear that Americans’ concern about their fellow citizens diets, as well as their own, predates the Constitution. The remaining section describes cookbooks for male audiences from 1850 to 2008, augmented by a film and a magazine column. The selected works’ recurring themes are the rights of men to cook and ongoing assertions of masculinity. Included are smatterings of misogyny, racism, chauvinism and homophobia. Highlighted is the dichotomy between the flavorful, hearty food men enjoy and the tasteless, nutritional fare produced by women under the influence of Home Economics. Sorely missing from the discourse are the objectives and history of domestic sciences, as well as their reaction to claims of blandness. In a strong afterword, Vester underscores food-centric discourses’ influence on health, family, gender, race, and public policy. Readers of this book will be better equipped to deconstruct and comprehend topics as diverse as obesity and foodie culture.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!! By Janorris 5 Stars for Lyra Parish and her follow up to Single Volume 1!! Time to add Parker Williams to your BBF list!Roxane VanBuren has found the one man that is crossing her set rules and working his way into her heart. Parker Williams also has a set of rules that he needs to be met to make this relationship work. Love shouldn’t be so hard. But when your heart has been shattered before, you do what you can to protect it. Will either one be able to get past their “rules” and let their love for each other happen? After finishing Single Vol. 1 I couldn’t wait for this one to come out! I needed to make sure that Roxane didn’t do anything stupid and lose Parker Williams! The man oozes sex appeal, romance, and chivalry in Vol 2. There was a twist I did not expect and all I thought was “No”! Okay a little dramatic, but that is how into the book I was. I’m a fan, what can I say?! Thank you Lyra Parish for another 5 Star read!

She is a hard woman to break though. He is hoping that their trip to New York will work in his favor to get her to let down her guard. But can he keep her if her gets her? 9 of 10 people found the following review helpful. Best of the Three... But not Tisdale's Best Work By Judge Tabor Suzan Tisdale chose to write Caelen McDunnah's book in a three part series. The first book was Caelen's Wife: Book One - A Murmur of Providence (Clan McDunnah Series 1), the second was Caelen's Wife, Book Two: A Whisper of Fate (The Clan McDunnah Series 2) and, of course this is the last one.I realize that some fans went a little berserk when they realized the book was in three parts accusing Ms. Tisdale of only trying to make money, etc. I had no real problem with the book being in three parts, however, initially I felt that Caelen's persona was so different from the man we had known in previously connected books that I was stunned. In Book #2, I felt as though I recognized the "old Caelen" and was glad to see the pace picked up relative to what I believed was his true personality based upon those books. In this book, we have yet more of the Caelen we'd all come to be intrigued with, plus Caelen and Fiona actually get to spend some time together which is entirely cool, since they hardly had any time together in Book #2. We also get to see Caelen interact with children and have hopes that although Fiona believes herself to be barren, perhaps - just perhaps that will turn out to not be true. We also finally see the mystery of who is killing off Fiona's clan members finally solved even as her people and Caelen's clan join together to make war on the villains. In retrospect, I believe the entire storyline suffered due to being broken up into three books. Not that I don't truly enjoy series of books based upon the same characters. I just don't really care for my books being turned into a serial, breaking up the story as it were. One good thing, however, is that only a short interval took place between the publishing of the three books which helped the reader to actually remember the storyline as opposed to having to re-read the previous books.Lastly, the storyline never actually engaged me as far as the problem which needed to be solved - that being the mystery of who was killing the clan members and the reason behind the killings. Nope, just never really captured my heart. All in all, I think Caelen deserved a much better story. Perhaps my hopes were just too high.

Since I don't want to spoil how Caelen's story ends. I will just say that it was worth the wait. While it's difficult for me to read a book in parts, it's just that I read so much and so often that it's difficult for me to read several series at a time, waiting for the next installment. That isn't the writer's fault though, and I can see the readers pressing to find out what happens next, and therefore understand the "installment" plan. I'm guilty of that myself. I have really enjoyed the entire series with all the wonderfully descriptive writing and the depth of each character's personality. You can certainly tell that Susan Tisdale has a great deal of historical knowledge of Scotland, as well as a deep love of romance and sexy male characters in kilts. Her female characters are never insipid, dull women without their own strong personalities either. She always makes excellent combinations of the male's character traits in combination with a perfect female character to ensure a delightful story that reaches all of the emotions. Fiona and Caelen's story is wonderful, even with all the ups and downs they face. I think you are an excellent storyteller Ms. Tisdale!

A Breath of Promise is the third novella of Caelen's Wife, and it picks up where 'A Whisper of Fate', book 2 left off. I enjoyed it immensely! Questions will be answered, and villains will be revealed. A Breath of Promise, is a wonderful subtitle for this third book by Suzan. The cover of this book is my favorite out of the three. The question that has been plaguing Fiona since book one, 'Would she give up being Chief of her clan for Caelen McDunnah', will be answered in this novella. The story line, and plot moves right along in this novella. There are a few twist and turns, and just when I thought I know who was committing the crimes against the McPhearson Clan, the story took another turn.I don't want to say a whole lot about this story, because I don't want to give anything away. I will say that readers will be happy with the conclusion of Caelen and Fiona's story. You will not be bored for one moment! I recommend this story to anyone that loves Suzan Tisdale's books, strong, noble men, and feisty heroines. Now, I am waiting patiently to read more from the McDunnah Clan!

Stars!I have taken a few days to think about what I want to say in my review of The Slayer but even now I am still struggling to put into words just how frigging good this book is. I started reading Kele Moon’s books a while ago now, and the one thing that stands true with each and every one I pick up, is that somehow it manages to be better than the one before. We have now stepped beyond the realms of just MMA fighters and the women who love them, and into a whole other level and intensity of storytelling. She would rather be in an uncertain life with him, than in a stable one without him.The writing is all encompassing, the characters have been in my life for such a long time now that reading each new book is like going back to visit family, new additions have been added into the group along the way, as if definitely the case with The Slayer but the story lines and the characters and the breadth and depth that Kele takes you into them… as I said I am still struggling to adequately put into my review just how amazing her writing and this book is.Chuito and Alaine basically come from opposite ends of the spectrum in relation to the lives they live and where they originate from. Sharing connecting bedroom walls in the same building are pretty much the only things they initially have in common. Alaine see’s the integrity and honor in Chu that he even struggles to see in himself most of the time. Their story which covers the 5 years they spend together in Garnet, told in the current and in flashbacks, and from both POV’s covers everything, from their first meeting, to all the intervening years."I like our prison."Gang-Banger – Ministers daughter; you can guess just how many hurdles this couple have to overcome. This isn’t a quick read, and the work that the author has put into this book in making it the best it can be is clearly apparent from the first chapter right until its unforgettable end.The latter part of the book moves Alaine and Chuito to Miami, back on his home turf we see more of the life that he lived and the man he was looking to leave behind upon moving to Garnet. Hard-hitting and extremely emotional, this part of the book is dirty, gritty, harsh and a little shocking, Chu starts to lose the grasp on the control that he has firmly held onto whilst in Garnet, and with his dark past, colliding with the brightness that was his future, he reverts back to the cold, ruthless, closed down guy he was when Alaine first met him.The night hid sins. The morning exposed regret. The story explores the beginnings; it gives you a different look at pivotal parts of other characters stories over the previous five years, through Alaine and Chuito’s eyes, that for me was an experience in itself. Vulnerability, loneliness and fear of not belonging, the gradual building of self confidence and the development of their relationship from friendship to something more, with an ending you don’t see coming, The Slayer has it all, and then some more just for good measure.”I’m not an angel, and you’re not a devil.”You need to read this series in order, I’d also recommend that is you haven’t read them you add the Battered Hearts books to your tbr (and read them before the Untamed Hearts books if possible). I still don’t feel like I have really done this book justice in this review, but I don’t want to ruin the journey that is Alaine and Chuito’s story, so much happens between them, reluctance turns to willingness, loneliness becomes togetherness. It’s the little things that make the difference, Kele has thought of, and covered them all, I really couldn’t have asked for more in this book.Tino is up next, and I have absolutely no doubt that I will struggle to write a review that truly expresses my adoration for his book as well, just like I have with this one, Kele Moon is just that good!”Some days it feels good to be a gangster.”ARC generously provided by the publisher, it was my absolute pleasure to provide the above honest review in exchange.

But Slayer is ten times better. I always loved Chu and couldn't wait for his story and it was so worth the wait. I din't think him and Alaine would make a good couple but she stood up to the plate. He was so far in the gang life and I didn't think she could handle it. But she shows the true meaning of behind every strong man is a stronger woman. Great read and can't wait till Tino's love story. This book has a little of everything. Cops, fighting, gangs, and the mob. Good read for what ever mood your in.

Not only it has romance, we also have the bromance, family, friendship and some mafiya action. With 495 pages, there isn't a dull moment. Chuito's story covered the 5 years he spent in Garnett up to his current predicament back in Miami with a gang problem that also involves the Moretti's family. We first meet him in Star Crossed and ever since then he is one of the supporting character that can't be ignore. He and Alaine had been the young couple dancing in the background that had me anticipating their story ever since. There are some scenes in The Slayer that overlapped with Star Crossed and Crossing the Line. It goes without saying, there would be spoilers for those books as well. Therefore, it it recommended to read the Battered Heart series beforehand. That is the original series that make me a fan of Kele Moon.Chuito, a Puerto Rican gangbanger from Miami who had been living in Garnett for the last 5 years to train as a professional MMA fighter. Although he is ready to live his old life behind, his sense of duty make him feels obligated to help out his family back in Miami to solve a feud between the gangs.Alaine, the preacher-daughter in Garnett who had been pining for Chuito for the past 5 years. When we first met her previously, she appear all innocent and virginal. Chuito and Alaine developed a strong bond since he become her neighbor 5 years ago. Their friendship developed through late night dancing, cooking meals and occasional sleepovers. They both knew they care and love each other, but because Chuito is very much still engage with his criminal life, they both still maintain a platonic relationship. Present time Alaine is as independent and strong-minded as Jules. A woman who decided that she had suffered enough by letting Chuito dictate what he think is best for her. Alaine is finally making a stand and fight for her own love story even if it doesn't end with happily ever after.Tino, who is Romeo's brother and an ex-enforcer of the Moretti's family who currently retire at Garnett to become MMA fighter. Tino, the passionate Italian, the funny brother, the guy who provide comic relief and masculine enough to cry in public. Tino and Chuito became best friend due to their mutual understanding of their criminal background.Having a good romance is always my main priority, but I also love the bromance between Chuito and Tino. First half of the book had more focus on Chuito and Alaine's relationship, but during the second half, we see more on Chuito and Tino's love for each other that was tested with blood and tears. I was half hoping to see some M/M action and wouldn't even mind for a threesome with Alaine if they are up for it.Nova, Tino's brother who is the underboss. Nova is character who had been totally hyped up. I mean he is like the superhero of the underworld. For the last 3 books since he was introduced, he is the one who step up over and over again to solve everyone problems. Honestly, my expectation for his book is through the roof. I can't even imagine how Kele Moon is gonna pull it off and give us an epic conclusion that Nova deserve.I like how Kele Moon interwoven The Slayer story with her Battered Heart series and due to my knowledge of the characters past and history, it make the experience of reading this much more enjoyable. I love seeing the inclusion of all the previous characters that I adore, especially Romeo, Jules, Wyatt and Clay. I like the way Kele Moon include her old characters naturally with actual roles to play, unlike some other series whereby authors felt the need to mentioned all previous couples for no reason other than showing off happiness. The Slayer is not only a MMA romance, is also very much a mafia romance. The tone is darker compare to Kele Moon previous books with a more intricate plot that involves a lot of parties. Chuito and Alaine story is consider completed for now, but we know the main problem with the Moretti is nowhere near done. With the ending we were treated with, I'm anxious for what is in store for the Moretti's brothers next. Bring on the 100% Grade A Italian!

The equations are simple. Piper Ashby + Brad Ashby = Twin Siblings Brad Ashby + Tanner McCain = Best Friends Piper Ashby + Tanner McCain = Off limits Tanner and I abided by the rules. We stayed on our designated sides of the relationship circle. Ignoring swarming butterflies. Brushing off skipped heartbeats. Settling on lingering stares. Here’s the secret … a hand extended over that invisible line once, exponentially changing the equation. I was convinced we could make our relationship work until Tanner broke the trust he embedded in me from the age of seven. One deceit of mega proportions and the relationship we built for that short month vanished. I swore never to speak to him again and it’s worked. Until now—two years later, when my brother’s wedding places me face-to-face with the best man—Tanner McCain. Leaving one equation to be solved. Can love surface twice?

Review "Love Surfaced is a beautiful story that is sweet, sexy, heartbreaking, funny and emotional. One of my top reads for 2015 so far." ~ Escape Reality with Books"This was surprisingly my first read from Ms. Lynn but I can say with absolute certainty that it won't be my last. She has slammed her way onto my One-Click-Addiction List one blush, tear, and breast-stroke at a time and I cannot wait to see what she brings us next." ~ Bookworm Betties"Michelle Lynn wrote a great story on love, friendship and second chances. It's an old plot, with some new twist." ~ Book Freak "I wasn't expecting the twists and turns this story took...Tanner is certainly a book boyfriend. He has a heart of gold and goes above and beyond for the love of his life and his best friend." ~ Teri C. (Amazon Reviewer)

While I think the story could be good, the writing seems juvenile and disjointed. I seriously think the author used a thesaurus to find new words to sound "smart." Well, it doesn't work...it just makes it harder to read. Plus, I don't think any editing was done whatsoever, even though Unforeseen Editing is credited. If the author paid for their services, she should get her money back, I don't think they actually did anything.**Spoilers - mainly for illustrative purposes**pg 101 - "My heart was crushed when I saw her snake her tongue into his mouth, but even worse was witnessing him welcome it with his hot and horny pubescent one."Pg 101 - "Unfortunately, when I attempted to jolt a full-blown make-out session, Parker wasn't interested."pg 97 - "Pushing my jeans down, his touch was so ginger and caring."pg 80 - "Now, hurry because I can't wait for your a** to be bare for my taking. A huge echo of laughter pores out of him, only spurring my own giggling."These are just a few examples...the entire book is filled with similarly awkward wording. How so many people gave this book 5 stars is completely beyond my comprehension. The book has potential, but until it is edited substantially, I won't be finishing it. And I will no longer be taking Amazon's recommendations for books I may like. There have been too many duds like this.

It’s the story about friends growing up and always staying close and sharing a special bond. It’s a story about family and the bonds siblings’ shares. And it’s a story about the one true love everyone hopes to find and when they do but lose it, it’s about it never truly dying and getting a second chance to win it back.Piper has spent her life growing up swimming, dreaming of the Olympics just like her twin brother Brad and his best Tanner. But there was always something more between Piper and Tanner but because of Brad, they were never allowed to cross that line into something more. Many years later in the senior year at Michigan University, it becomes clear now for Piper that her dream of the Olympics is never going to happen and that swimming is not her future. One dream that did come true is Tanner finally crossing that line and realizes he truly did have the same feelings she was having. They decided to keep things quiet until the figured out what would come of them but before they ever really got a chance to tell Brad or see what could have come, it all came crashing down thanks to Tanner and Piper is left heartbroken and never the same. Two years later Piper is now with Curtis but she must return home and face Tanner thanks to her brother getting married. She ran two years ago and wouldn’t let him explain himself and this time around, Tanner is going to make her listen and do everything he can to get her to forgive him and give them a second chance at the love they once had. From the beginning of this story, the chemistry was always there between Piper and Tanner, but they were both scared of what would happen if it didn’t work out and what would Brad do. I really liked the banter and the teasing between in the beginning, they were fun and flirty and when they finally came together, they were off the charts hot. You could see from that very moment that what these two shared was love, a love that ignited at a very young age and only grew from there over the years. This was a love that was based on the foundation of friendship but was so much more, this was the love of soulmates that would never die. I really enjoyed these characters, you couldn’t help but love them and connect with you and I really could feel the love she felt for him. It was a nice change to read her single POV, as most books these days are multiple POV’s, but there were at times I found myself wishing to get inside of his head, so that I could see more of him and his love for her.The storyline was enjoyable with a mix of sweet and sexy with a nice level of drama. My only issue was that the story was very predictable and as soon as something happened and she ran, I could see how the rest of the story was going to play out and it left me disappointed as the thing I enjoy most about reading is the surprise twists and turns to a story, every book is a new adventure and I love the butterflies and giddiness I get from that. Sadly this book didn’t do that. The writing was well done, the character development was good, I just wished I could have been surprised with how the story played out. This was my first Michelle Lynn book but I definitely won’t make it my last.

8 of 8 people found the following review helpful. WOW just WOW this book was amazing , beautiful second chance love story , the forbidden fruit , secrets , hotness By amie The equations are simple.Piper Ashby + Brad Ashby = Twin SiblingsBrad Ashby + Tanner McCain = Best FriendsPiper Ashby + Tanner McCain = Off limits^^ THAT RIGHT THERE ^^ = A GREAT FREAKIN STORY !!Add to that the angst , heartache , yearning and although there may be that amazing HEA let's not discuss the mid book cliffy , are you kidding me....how can you do that !! Right as something big is going to happen then the authors presses the fast forward button and we are left hanging forever not knowing what the heck caused this to happen. Then 2 YEARS LATER no way , is this a joke, the torture , the longing. I was itching for Tanner and Piper to finally have their moment. it was painful !! This is Piper's story to tell but man would I love to be in Tanner's head !! He is amazing and just so swoon worthy , I couldn't get enough of him , of them !! Piper's actions shocked me a bit but nobody's more than Brad. I really felt betrayed by him myself , having said that I am hoping he finds his HEA and I would love to read about it !!!!!!!Twins Brad and Piper are living their high school dreams on the swim team both struggling to qualify to train for the olympics. Their 3rd wheel , Brad's BFF and Piper's secret crush has made his dream come true and he is going to train for the olympics. Here we have a case of BFF wanting what the other has and said BFF wanting what the other says is off limits !! There is no denying the attraction between Piper and Tanner. Everyone sees it but they never act on it because of Brad. It is torture knowing how badly they want each other. Once that hurdle passes many others present themselves. the sneaking , the secrets , the lies and then the devastation. When these 3 come together again for an event years later you won't believe the secrets that come out. Nobody has moved on , everyone is still bitter and suffering. Can they fix this mess before it is too late ??Although we start this journey in their past we end with a beautiful second chance at love for Piper and Tanner. Piper is a great girl and I could connect with her on some levels but I really wish she would have just listened. Wasted time is such a heartbreaking thing in the book world. It happens so much and it always drives me crazy !! Think of all the hot sex we missed in that 2 years !!!!!!! Tanner may have given her space but once he comes home it is time to reclaim his girl and his persistence and sweetness is phenomenal. Of course his dirty talk and brash behavior is amazing as well !! He is such a great mix of all my favorite book boyfriends. Great ending and I truly do hope we get more , maybe a Brad book or a Dylan book or how about both !!
