A satisfying category romance from Entangled's Lovestruck imprint...

This time, Cupid's playing dirty...

Goaded by her competition, matchmaker Jane Wright makes a very public bet that she can find the "perfect" match for Manhattan's hottest confirmed bachelor-sexy-as-sin bartender Charlie Goodman. Unfortunately, Charlie is also Jane's ex-lover, a man she broke up with on a cocktail napkin. With her company on the line, Jane has no choice but to convince the man of her most impractical dreams to dive back into the dating pool.

Charlie doesn't want to see Jane's business fail. He just wants a little revenge. Determined to prove to Jane that chemistry always beats compatibility algorithms, he plans to drive her crazy with desire...then walk away. And his plan is working. A little too well, actually. Because even as Jane scrambles to calculate Charlie's best match, the heat building between them combusts. But Charlie's been so busy outsmarting Cupid that he hasn't noticed he's the naughty cherub's next target...

Definitely worth the read :) By Sheri @ Tangled Up In Books Originally posted on my blog: Tangled Up In BooksI received a copy of this book, from the publisher, in exchange for an honest review. In no way did this sway either my review or my rating.I got Breaking the Bachelor desperately wanting to love it. I thought the title was cute, the blurb had me very excited and intrigued and yet as I read it there was a lack of that certain something, the wow factor that would normally have me fully embracing a story and it's characters. Instead it was fun at times and there were cute aspects to it but it didn't grab me like I had hoped it would.I think the thing I found the most enjoyable was Jane's character. More often than not she actually had me laughing pretty hard. You see, Jane has these quirks...food related quirks, that in some ways I could relate to them and in others were extremely humorous. I feel like she must have an impressive metabolism because that woman stress eats, actually it's more like she inhales her food than takes the time to eat it, like nothing I've ever seen. I swear in one tiny scene she went through at least 4 candy bars alone. I won't give away all her wacky food rituals I'll leave the rest for a surprise. Other than that I don't know I guess I just have this thing were I am loving all of these logical, smart, analytical female characters lately and Jane fit that mold perfectly.Charlie was an okay character. A bit on the cocky side at times but all the same very likable. Really there wasn't anything terrible or annoying about him. I just didn't feel Charlie and Jane together. Whenever they flirted or kissed or played their little seduction games, when I should be feeling that sexual tension skyrocket I just felt nothing. In fact I legitimately thought from the opening of the book, "Huh. I sort of wish Jane was going to be hooking up with Adam instead..." Adam is that competition/business rival mentioned at the start of the blurb. I mean, truly Charlie is great but I think Jane and Adam could have been sizzling.I'd definitely suggest giving this book a chance. The storyline was solid, other than a couple of very brief moments of cheesiness, and there was lots of humor. My issue with it all seemed to be personal and I allowed my brain to latch on to the wrong guy from the beginning and couldn't seem to let that go even though I knew for a fact that it wouldn't go anywhere. So I was doomed from the start. I do think a lot of people are going to like this one though. There was enough of the good stuff to have me interested in keeping an eye out for the next book in the Smart Cupid series. There were quite a few secondary characters that I enjoyed so maybe, hopefully it will be about one of them. Thanks to Entangled Publishing for the opportunity to read and review this book!

What if you played it once as an adult ... and find both your reputation and career are on the line as a result? Now you can imagine how Jane Wright feels. She's a matchmaker based in Manhattan, who believes that relationships are based solely on scientifically measurable standards of compatibility, and not on anything remotely emotional or physical (like attraction). And her competition has cornered her into a bet: that her scientific system can find a match for Charlie Goodman, sexy bartender and Manhattan's most desirable bachelor ... and Jane's ex-lover.Charlie, meanwhile, has zero interest in letting Jane match him with anybody. He's still desperately attracted to him, even though she dumped him via cocktail napkin. In his opinion, revenge is a dish best served heavy on the compatibility characteristics Jane is so against: attraction and good old-fashioned lust and desire. If he can seduce her and show her how it feels to be dumped, she'll get a taste of her own medicine. He just doesn't count on falling for her all over again.Entangled Publishing's Lovestruck imprint presents BREAKING THE BACHELOR by Maggie Kelley, debuting just this month. For a romance simultaneously sweet and intriguingly sexy, this offering delivers. One of its most unique selling points is the way each chapter opens with Twitter messages, quick exchanges that set the scene and provide context for the chapter contents. It's a different (in a really good way) technique with which to maintain reader interest and tension, especially as Jane and her competition in the matchmaking industry exchange increasingly biting Tweets.Charlie, especially, is a multidimensional character ... who ever heard of a bartender being voted the best-known and most eligible bachelor in the whole of Manhattan? And yet he wears his notoriety easily, even as he works his charm and skills to his advantage over Jane. He is her perfect foil: determined to prove to her that love is something that can be felt, not necessarily scientifically analyzed and proven.Jane, on the other hand, falls flatter as a character. She's not as well-rounded as her lover, even as she excels at snarky dialogue effectively designed to put Charlie in his place more than once. Indeed, their exchanges are one of the most entertaining aspects of the story. Also a challenge to what would otherwise be a suspenseful (in the romantic and sexual senses) read is the great deal of back story included in the first few chapters as the stage is set for the characters to act in their present setting and situations, and the lengthy paragraphs of explanation throughout the work. Such aspects slow the forward momentum of the story regrettably, and the pacing suffers for it.Still, for a feel-good love story based on an intriguing premise, BREAKING THE BACHELOR fits the bill.# # #Author: Maggie KelleyTitle: BREAKING THE BACHELORPublisher: Entangled Publishing (Lovestruck)ISBN: 978-1-63375-089-0Purchase here: http://amzn.to/1Fnoc4nDisclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this work from the publisher via Net Galley in exchange for an honest, though not necessarily positive, review. Won My Heart By Sam Tucker This story won my heart…I could describe Breaking the Bachelor by the tropes…it’s a tale of reunited lovers, specifically the heroine and her big brother’s best friend, and it revolves around a bet she ought not have made. But none of that captures all the fun, sweet and flat-out sexy of this debut novel, or how I smiled the whole way through.Jane is a bundle of angst wrapped up in an ambitious, fast-talking package. Remaining in control, keeping a level head and a firm grip on her heart helped her climb to the top of the matchmaking game in the competitive NYC market. The wild, impetuous, out-of-control feelings her brother’s best friend, Charlie Goodman, inspires scare her to the bone, so when she’s challenged by her biggest competitor to find the perfect match for the very man who threatens all her carefully devised theories about love, she agrees. Win the bet, prove her Smart Cupid compatibility matrix works, and get the tempting Charlie off the market and out of her head once and for all.Charlie’s having none of it. Oh, sure, he agrees to play along, but he has no intention of letting her pair him off with someone else. He knows what he wants, and it’s Jane. The trick is finding a way to tell her so without scaring her off…again. He’s convinced the chemistry between them speaks for itself, and really, there’s no hiding it. Trouble is, it’s the chemistry Jane distrusts! The result is an endearing, entertaining and incredibly HOT push-pull between these two characters. Their journey includes so many funny, sexy scenes I literally could not put it down. I adored Jane, and I LOVED Charlie. I rooted for their happy ever after even though I was sad to reach the end of the story. Luckily, I spied a couple secondary characters who could use a little help finding love.Hello, Smart Cupid?

"the total number of copies in print... 450,000." - Ballantine Books Whiting's portrait of General George S Patton was first published as a Ballantine's Illustrated History of World War II. Its first printing sold 450,000 copies worldwide. "In a cloud of thick dust, the convoy came to a halt. The tall immaculate general waited till the driver opened the door then descended slowly, his highly polished riding boots sinking into the Tunisian dust. For a long interval he eyed the scene around him. Then with an imperious slap of his riding switch against the calf of his boot, the general stalked towards the headquarters of the US II Corps. 'Old Blood an' Guts' had arrived to take command." Charles Whiting (1926-2007) was one of Britain’s most prolific military writers, with over 300 books to his credit. He saw active service in the Second World War, serving in an armoured reconnaissance regiment attached to both the US and British armies. His books therefore possess the insight and authority of someone who, as a combat soldier, actually experienced the horrors of the Second World War. Charles Whiting is the author of numerous history books on the Second World War. Under the pen name of Leo Kessler he also wrote a series of bestselling military thrillers featuring SS Assault Battalion Wotan, and the infamous "Dogs of War" Series.

The book really dissects Patton the man; his strengths and foibles. If you're interested in this period of history, and Patton's role in foreshortening the war in Europe, you will not be disappointed.

When Gareth, Lord Worthe, agreed to host his best friend Michael's sister before her first season in London, he had no idea that there would actually be two sisters descending on his homework all of their noise, dresses and talk of finding husbands. Gareth is expecting the lovely Charlotte, but is in no way prepared for the stunning Jane. While Gareth only sees a beautiful, witty young woman, everyone else around Jane sees the invalid that she became after an accident when she was young. While she is confined all day to a wheel chair because her back injury makes it too painful for her to be up on her legs for any length of time, Jane is quick-witted and mischievous, bringing out the best in the usually taciturn Gareth. When Gareth proposes, he has a much harder time convincing Michael that Jane is worthy of being loved, rather than pitied, than he does convincing Jane that he is the man for her. I loved that this story showed that true love knows no obstacles and how real love can bring out the absolute best in people. The characters are shown with all of their human flaws and insecurities and you will love them even more for it!

By Krystal There was a lot that I LOVED about this book - and there were a couple (of silly things) that I didn't love about this book. Lets start with what I DIDN'T LOVE.It was a novella. I say this a lot - in fact this is probably my biggest pet peeve with novellas - they are such strong books on their own that I desperately wish for more. No, this is not a bad thing, it is simply me wanting to spend more time with these particular characters and spend more time in their world. It also makes me want to know more about the secondary characters as well.As it pertains to this story (this will also cover what I LOVED about it) - I absolutely LOVED these characters! I loved the fact that Jane wasn't the "perfect" heroine as we see in so many other stories set in this time period. She had a physical disability that I think many people will be able to relate to, but the fact that she was disabled only added to her character and who she was inside. That to me, the inside beauty overshadowing the outside beauty, is one of the things I enjoyed most about this story. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the banter between her and Gareth, and seeing their romance bloom (although I too wish there would have been more to enjoy between them). There is a bit of "back and forth" in the POV of the characters, which as the reader, helped me to better see/understand the perspective of each of the different characters. While I understood Michael's desire to protect his sister (even if I didn't always like his methods), it was also refreshing to see not only how Jane saw herself, but how Gareth also saw her.I do hope that even with this being a stand-alone novella, that there will be more from these characters. I would love to read about Charlotte finding her happily ever after as she was the reason Jane found hers, and I would definitely like to see their brother Michael finally meet his match as well.DISCLAIMER: I received a complimentary copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review. This has not affected my review in any way. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are 100% my own.

10 of 11 people found the following review helpful. No romance in a romance book. By Kindle Customer Good plot. Characters well developed. Not enough story. Not enough epilogue. No romance in a romance story.Wouldn't you think he would want to show her off around London? The opera, a play, a ride in the park, or even a ball since he would be there with her and they could play cards, plus I didn't feel the love in this story at all. Maybe because it was so fast. The possibilities were there for a fantastic story of great love, but Ms.. Gordon dropped the ball and it makes me sad. Sad because she had a great plot idea, unique at least in all the books I've read in the genre and one I think is needed.

Named for Daniel Nelson, who arrived with his family in 1814, Nelsonville grew to become a boomtown by the mid-1800s. Coal mines and brick factories were its major employers, and the town attracted emigrant workers from England. Two major routes, the Hocking Canal and Hocking Valley Railroad, not only provided transportation for the area but also a means to export coal. The canal suffered attacks by Gen. John Hunt Morgan and his Confederate cavalry during the Civil War and was ultimately destroyed by spring flooding, but the railroad has remained a premiere tourist attraction. The Public Square, around which the earliest establishments such as the Dew House were erected, continues to thrive as an arts district. Images of America: Nelsonville uses archival photographs and postcards to celebrate the most influential people and beloved places of the Little City of Black Diamonds and to recap the challenges and triumphs that helped earn Nelsonville its distinctive reputation.

The photos within By Craig Westfall To be honest my sister wrote this book; her dedication to the history of Nelsonville is unprecedented and this publication is a great representation. The photos within the boom depict the history of such a beautiful city during its golden era. If you're from Nelsonville this is a great visual history of the city. This makes for a great gift for those who'd enjoy looking back at the industrial era of our city, one which makes us proud and brings a smile in imagining what we once were; this makes me proud to be fromNelsonville!

Gregory Quinlan has staked his future on moving west and building a life in Oregon. A wife isn’t part of his plan. But when Darcy finds herself in trouble, he steps up to be a friend to her. The two hatch a plan to convince her should-be husband to take her back, only the more they work together, the more Greg falls in love. But what good is love when Darcy belongs to someone else? Against the odds, on an epic pioneer journey, Greg must fight to fix the mistakes he’s made and win back the woman who won his heart with her smile. This is the story of Eric Quinlan's parents from her Montana Romance series called Fool For Love. This is also a prequel of her Hot on the Trail series about the Oregon Trail. We meet Darcy as she's coming from the stagecoach to meet the man who sent for her to be his bride. She's hoping that a new life in a new place will be a step up from the bleak existence that she had on the east coast. That's when she meets Conrad, he was no ideal, but her unsinkable spirit would make it work. Only Conrad didn't want her. Said she was too puny and demanded she give his money back to him. Greg Quinlan watches the exchange and from that moment on becomes her champion, and he sets out to help her win Conrad back. But when it happens, is it what they really want. And if it isn't, is there any way to find their way together?I can see a lot of Darcy in their son Eric. I can see a lot of Greg too. I love reading stories like this because it's like watching a true family. The child takes on characteristics from each parent. And no, there's no appearance by Eric. I just had to add that I can see both Greg's personality and Darcy's spirit in Eric. Their romance happens fairly quickly, but it doesn't feel rushed or insincere. Sometimes they heart just knows what it knows. I would definitely recommend this book. There's some nookie in it and it's really warm. Not as warm as others of her books I've read, but not a fade to black scene either. But don't let that stop you. Like with all her books, it's not an important part, it's merely a part of the story.

With the story of Greg & Darcy, she weaves her storytelling web of heartache, despair, hope, love and determination. The Conrad character was all to familiar to me and touched a few wounds of my own. No matter what is in your life, this story reminds the reader that the sun always shines and hope is but a daydream away.
