Review RT Book Reviews 4.5 star TOP PICK!"...a marvelously funny, engaging, and memorable romance in a place where everyone knows your name.""Laura Trentham writes an intricately woven story that throbs with rich emotion. I laughed, I cried, I loved Slow and Steady Rush!"Bestselling Author of the Sweet, Texas SeriesCandis Terry From Publisher's Weekly:In the first installment of Trentham's Falcon Football series, a young woman gets a new shot at love when she returns to the small Alabama town of her youth to look after her injured grandmother. Darcy Wilde is a prim and proper librarian trying to live down her mother's scandalous reputation. Her new neighbor, Robbie Dalton, who's Falcon's new high school football coach, has a way of riling her up. But irritation gives way to mutual desire, spoiled only by a miscommunication that leaves Darcy convinced Robbie is gay--an inaccurate assessment that threatens to ruin his reputation with the townsfolk. To save Robbie's image and his job, they engage in a fake relationship that threatens to turn all too real with each sizzling kiss. But Robbie has dark secrets and traumas of his own to overcome before he can commit to what they both know to be a good thing. The instant chemistry and dynamic give-and-take between the two fuels this otherwise ordinary romance as it juggles several different dramatic subplots. Trentham pulls the various elements together in time to deliver a sweet, satisfying story.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Slow And Steady Rush - Heady And Addictive By Alima Livzletlivz As a reader (and reviewer), a good book for me is the one that pulls at my heartstrings, makes me shed a few tears, makes my heart heavy with the pain of the protagonists, pulls my lips into smiles and laughter at their wit and gives me goose bumps as I become a part of their passionate love story to a future. And as reader it is very rare for me to get captivated by a new author on my list, yet Laura Trentham does the very same with her “Slow And Steady Rush” (Falcon Football Series).Darcy Wilde takes a sabbatical as a librarian, and comes home to Falcon to take care of her injured grandmother Ada. Independent and confident, witty and sassy, lovable and warm, coming back to Falcon brings back memories of a past that she desperately wants to forget; a past that puts her wayward mother out of her site and the turmoil that motivated her to become the successful woman of the present…. and right into the path of the new coach Robbie Dalton.Making Falcon as a safe haven was important to Coach Dalton as making sure the young students of his football team stay out of trouble. Bounced around in foster care and making a life out of an abused childhood is something that puts Robbie on the edge and skeptical of forming relationships. Being an ex-ranger has channeled his anger into protecting his country, but being an orphan and the thirst for being loved by someone seems to be unquenchable. But Darcy Wilde puts wild thoughts into his brain, and crack opens that heart he’s been guarding with his life. And what starts off as a fling, Darcy ends up losing her heart to the bruised Coach. Both Darcy and Robbie have plenty of pain and hurt to get past before they can make a future.Laura Trentham, slowly but very steadily pulls her readers into this brilliant story of family and love, passion and lust, support and friendship. She’s done a fine job of making Darcy and Robbie as two individuals so right for each other. Supporting cast is amazing and she leaves no stone unturned to makes us shed a tear or two for the unconditional love that runs in the family and for the family and childhood lost.A definite five star read for me and am looking forward to Logan finding his own happily ever after.Received an ARC from St. Martins Press via NetGalley for an honest review.
3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. robbie By andrewsheath I loved Robbie I loved how he had morals, "because you were blitzed, and excuse me for being gentlemanly, but I didn't want you puking your guts up while I screwed you." Such a nice boy. His thoughts sometimes were of those of a teenage virgin who was nervous, "I'll go, but only if Robbie wants to." She cast him an inscrutable look under her lashes. What did that mean? Did she want to go out with him?" He's sometimes pretty open about his thoughts, "you have no effing idea how much I want you. I think about getting your legs around me every waking second of the day." Robbie and Darcy were like teenagers at times, "Jesus Christ, couldn't you tell I enjoyed it?" A knock startled them apart. Robbie yanked his pants up while Darcy moved to the door straightening her clothes." Robbie sometimes has to check with his girl on things, "I brought three condoms. Do you think that will cover us?" He smiled into her hair." I really liked this book and I think I'm going to like this series, it has the atmosphere I like with small towns, and it has sex so this series will probably go far on my radar.
2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. really good! By mandy 4.5 stars for this sweet, thoughtful romance. Darcy moved away from the small town she grew up in. She hated living there, with small-minded people and all the gossip. Years later, when the grandma who raised her gets sick, she takes a leave of work to return to the small town she left behind. As much as things have changed there, some things have stayed the same. One new addition to her hometown is Robbie, aka Dalt, the new coach of the football team. Robbie served in Afghanistan with Darcy's cousin and he wanted to live in the small town Darcy wrote about in her letters. My favorite thing about this book was Robbie. He's really sweet but also kind of broken from a past that haunts him. He's really good with the kids he coaches, he's not a manwhore, and he loves his dog. He's a really fantastic hero. I also really liked the small town setting. This book had the perfect amount of steam. I really enjoyed this sweet romance and look forward to reading more by this author.
