This has been re-edited on 03/08/2015 My name is Alison, I am a goody, goody. I follow the rules, I work hard and study while everyone else parties and hooks up. I'm ok with that, I'm use to it. My life isn't simple though, I have a secret-I'm in love with my next door neighbour, my best friend Kyle Jacobs. Kyle Jacobs is popular, hot, wanted by every girl in school. I am the exact opposite, I'm invisible, unnoticed, I haven't even kissed a boy. One girly weekend to a spa for a makeover changes everything. I start getting noticed, even Kyle is starting to act differently around me. Somebody though doesn't like this new change, doesn't like how Kyle and I are blurring the lines from friendship to something more. New adult contemporary romance with mature content. Recommended for 17+ due to mature language and adult situations

I only gave 2 stars because I liked the plot, but nothing else.First of all, I don't think it only takes a makeover to change someone's opinion on herself. Is it really that easy to become confident after years of bullying? Don't tell me that whit this low self-esteem she felt comfortable with waxing and makeup and a sexy dress and going to a party, and I'm sure as hell that a girl like her wouldn't be ok to go to a date with a guy she met for the first time.Second, the editing is bad. Like so bad I wanted to underline all the mistakes and send to the author. But I'm not doing that since my mother language is not English. And it's not just the spelling, but the grammar and language too. I've never read as much sentence with an "as" in it in 23 years as in this book. Haha, I think I'm co-habiting. Sometimes 6 or 7 times on one page. (I'm talking about these: "Kyle came to our house every night this week as his parents are away on a business trip. My mother made chicken as he loves it... etc.). Also, I had a feeling that she was just listing the things that happened to her. The sentences were too short and straight to the point, like there were no space to write a little more in detail. And other times she was just talking about every little thing that has nothing to do with the happenings. Just a friendly advice: if a picture lays in the bedroom in a movie and the camera zooms in on it, it has to have a meaning. It won't work if there's only a car on it. Maybe if the car is gift from her mother who was killed or that car is her best friend and she can only feel peaceful in that car.Way too much boob talk!It was obvious who was behind all of the bad things, at least for me. I don't want to spoiler so I'm not going to explain. The first half was slow and dragging, I felt both Kyle and Ali were stupid that they didn't realized their feelings sooner. It was soooo obvious I felt like hitting myself. And the second half was way too rushed, like a to do list that you write in a hurry before going on your errands. The ending was a little awkward. I'm talking about the things she said on the last few pages. She chuckled and talked about having sex and everything, than suddenly pleading. It was a mess and I didn't have a single feeling when I read that. I mean, my pulse should have run up and I should have felt sadness and pity but I just didn't.It was a first book and unfortunately it shows, but I do think this author has a lot of potential, and maybe I'll just buy the second book because of the huge cliffhanger. And I'm also a little curious about the development in her writing. I hope she gets someone who edits the book more thoroughly, and puts some depth and meaning into the story. Wish you the best J.L!

Hey give it a go By Angela Johnson I received a free copy of this from Hurricane Readers Book Reviews in exchange for a fair and honest review..I found this story a bit slow and hard for me to read, the editing was fairly poor with a fair amount of mistakes.I also found the characters a tad boring, I just could not seem to get invested in the characters or the story..I just found it to be a bit blah...But hey give it a go, just because I was not impressed does not mean you wont like it..

For a first book she does start out with a great idea and concept By Amazon Customer I want to first of all state this is a series so there is another coming book coming!!!For a first book she does start out with a great idea and concept. The story development can be confusing but the fact that the friends stay together and are growing together through the book is awesome. The angst of high school is well developed and describes how it can be. I would recommend this book and watch a new author develop and grow.
