While my sister and I were lugging around that bathtub you see on the cover, trying to work our way up a hill into a wooded area near my house, a lady came marching over to us and demanded to know what it was that we were doing. I believe her exact words were, “What in the world is going on here? Are you planning on just leaving that thing out here?!” I looked at the woman, whose finger was pointed straight at my face, and said, “Ma’am, I don’t typically carry bathtubs out into public property and leave them there. I’m taking photos for a project.” After berating me, taking pictures of my license plate, and threatening to call the police should I happen to leave the tub in the woods, I responded politely, smiled, and walked away. I’m 17. I’m a teenager. People are going to see that and make snap judgments. It happens. It’s easy to judge someone by their age. I, however, really don’t see my age as a handicap when it comes to this book. If anything, my youth is what makes “Macaroni in the Bathtub” so unique. So, while I intended for this book to be read primarily by divorced parents, this book is really for all parents who wish to understand the side of things that they can’t see. Of course, if you would just like to flip through the book, skip the advice, and read through all the stories about my occasionally ridiculous life, then this book is for you, too. Take from this book what you will, even if it's just a couple laughs over macaroni in the bathtub.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. a must-read for all parents (divorced or not) By john t Piper Pugh tackles her subject with broad strokes of refreshing humor and wit punctuated by sobering flourishes of deeply felt emotional detail. Hard to believe the confidence and maturity of the writing, and the psychological insight of a 17-year old, and her advice is something that I wished my own divorced parents had been able to avail themselves of.

Terlesky Every married person with kids who is thinking about getting a divorce or who is already going through one should turn off their cell phone right now and read this book. Piper Pugh writes with honesty, humor and sharp perception about divorce from the children's point of view. She gives sage advice to parents who are in danger of forgetting what should be most important to them - their children. Bravo to a new young writer whose name I am sure will grace the cover of many books to come. (And btw - happily married people with kids will get something out of this book too!)

By Tina DaRe-Vore This book is full of passion and insight and I truly enjoyed it while both laughing and at times brought to tears. I believe that the parenting of children during a divorce as she describes it is equally applicable to parenting while still married. Unbelievable wisdom coming from a 17 year old young woman!
