Review The wounds that James and Liz suffered from their previous relationships are still raw and the authors have done such a good job in showing their feelings. They remain true to themselves, but can't deny the attraction. The Montana setting also illustrates the rodeo life at the McKenna Ranch. This series continues with the lives of James' children, Callie and Parker, along with Liz's son, Brody. Fans of cowboy romance will enjoy this series. ~ Night Owl Reviews, 4 Stars

By Donna feibusch I loved reading about The Montana McKennas: Prequel (The Montana Ranchers Book 1), all about James McKenna & his kids Callie & Parker and their ranch. The book opens with James burying his wife Claire who is his heart and soul, but she didn't last long once they found the lump. Now he has to walk away from the only women he ever loved, and he has no idea how to do that! He has two young kids and must go on some how. His Forman Sam signs him up to go on a blind date with Liz Caldera a divorced mom with a ten year old son. It's awkward but they get thru their first date and he spends the night. The author wrote a very interesting story, and the characters make the story come to life. Read all about the McKenna's and the Caldera's and see what happens after they have been dating for six months.

By Janice Hougland I liked this prequel as it provided background for the upcoming series and got me ready to begin with the next full story in the series—Brody. Even so, though, this short prequel certainly gave me the flavor of the writing style of these two authors and I already know that I’m going to enjoy this series – a lot! I was a stepmother myself in a blended family so I can fully understand the difficulties in raising children who have suffered a loss and a big change in their lives. Liz Caldera sounds like a smart woman who will be up to the task of managing the blended family with James McKenna. I am definitely looking forward to reading the next book in this series and can recommend the Prequel to all readers who like small town romances with heart.

By nona114 I enjoyed reading this book very much and I can't wait to read others by these authors. I love reading about love and cowboys. This is a story about a man's wife died and he has to raise two children. He goes on a blind date and meets someone he likes. I recommend this book to anyone who loves reading romances.
