Great Read - Even Better Resource By OSUBuckNut45 I am by no means a history buff, however this book was written in a very straightforward way that opened my eyes to a topic that I was previously unaware of - large supplies of Civil War letters that are just waiting to be documented and combed through. This book would be a great resource for someone that has access to older relatives' belongings (that may contain letters) or just getting involved in reaching out to local libraries for combing through their archives. Or, this book would be a great read for anyone that has ever had any interest in understanding the affect of the Civil War on real people affected by real life 150+ years ago.

Clear, Concise, Informative, and Interesting By Zachary I am not a Civil War historian or enthusiast - but I am a student interested in research and general American history. This little "how-to" guide is clear, concise, informative, and above all else, interesting. While ostensibly focusing purely on the steps involved in obtaining, reading, and interpreting Civil War letters, along the way the author shares a number of insights sure to be helpful to anyone involved in research or some other type of interpretive work, or anyone interested in pursing graduate school. My time with this slim volume was certainly not wasted - and yours won't be either.
