By Lana R Nelson I bought two copies of this book because my husband and I both will USE it!Karolyn’s engaging wry wit rings out in Eat the Elephant. This is the first self help book that I have wanted to read from cover to cover without stopping! But I suggest you get your highlighter and the other simple tools Karolyn recommends before you start. That way you won’t have to put it down! You’ll want to keep this book within easy reach to refer to it often. Karolyn Vreeland Blume is the lawyer who doesn’t “pussyfoot” around when it comes to helping you get out of overwhelm! Valenti Karolyn's vast experience in life, the law, coaching and in conflict work gives her a unique perspective to guide people through times of "Overwhelm." This book does not really offer you some unique perspective that requires a huge commitment of time, study or effort. The book is a quick read. There are exercises that you do that take some additional time, none of which are terribly difficult. What I think is most impressive is that the way out of your overwhelm seems simple when Karolyn talks you through it. And yes, if you know Karolyn, as I do, you actually feel like you are having a coffee or a "Cosmo" with her and she is telling you what you are reading. Many times, you are struck by the common sense that fills the book. You will find yourself saying " Why didn't I think of that?" But that is the point isn't it. We are overwhelmed, stuck, and cannot think in the way we wish. So karolyn sits with you, teaches and coaches you through it all, and makes you laugh out loud all the way through it! All of this for a bargain price on Amazon as well!

I'm typical type A personality, and frequently struggle with being overwhelmed (mostly because I'm such a perfectionist). Karolyn Blume's book is spot on. There were parts of the book when I felt like she was talking directly to me. Having the tools to take action when life gets too crazy is so important because my overwhelm is sometimes paralyzing. Life doesn't stop so you can get it together, but having tangible strategies to work through the stress can help improve relationships, and lead to a more enjoyable life. I highly recommend this book for anybody who wants to release the burden of stress, and get back to living a happy, fulfilling life.

By Alexandra C Zito Coach Ourso was always one of my favorite teachers. He was not only interesting (obviously) but he was helpful, caring, hospitable, and extremely kind. He always made every single person feel important. He showed us that he cared. After hearing about Coach's sex change, I decided to read the book out of interest... I am SO glad that I did. Let me first say that I HATE all of the pain and suffering that he/she endured throughout his/her life. I hope that he/she is finally at peace with life. I can also (now) add courageous to the list to describe Coach. He/she stated that the purpose of this book was so that men and women could better understand each other.. it's so like him/her to constantly be thinking of ways to help others, despite his/her hardships. This book was SO enlightening and helpful and I can't wait to recommend it to others. THANK YOU, COACH.

I can not begin to understand the pain and horror she suffered as a child. This is an amazing and unique look at many of the differences between testosterone fueled men and estrogen fueled women by someone who has been both. I am proud to know Kendra and even more honored to call her a friend. You simply have to read this book.

A SUPREMELY MASTERFUL LOOK AT THE WORLD OF FILM NOIR By Johnnery This is a brilliantly-written and totally engrossing book on the unforgettable films and actors of film noir. Jake Hinkson's knowledge of the genre is laregely unparalleled and his love of the subject is apparent on every page. His essay on the sad life of actress Peggie Castle ("The Girl They Loved To Kill") is included here, and it is a heartbreaking and superbly compassionate read. Jake Hinkson is my favorite noir writer (by far), and I hope this book is a huge success for him. I know I will be returning to it again and again; that's how much I love it.

I found it fascinating to read about Casada and what life in this little Italian village was like as far back as the 1500s. At one point in the town's history, 200 of the 300 people shared the last name Comis. Shortly before WWI and in the ensuing years, many of the residents immigrated to the US and ended up working in the coal mines of Pennsylvania. What a hardscrabble life those people had. If you're at all interesting in history, this book is for you, Italian or not. The many photos are an added plus!

By Marie A heart warming book on many levels. A beautiful story about Italian immigrants and their journey to America. The author did a wonderful job describing the lives of her ancestors, so much so that as the reader you thought you were living in that time period. The story was translated beautifully from Italian to English over the past two years. What made it even more special was that the translation was done by the author's cousin. You cannot put the book down and it is so very worthy of your time and will make a difference in your heart when you finish it.

Thanks for sending me a copy of this Michele, it did great to me!I was frustrated with my lack of motivation to exercise, and diminishing capabilities that fed my laziness. The author conveys common sense applications and methodologies to allow everyone at any age and fitness level to keep limber.I wish I had this knowledge to integrate into my sports routines and all those fun activities, which later resulted in injuries and worn out muscles and joints.

It contains information on preventing wrinkles, the importance of exercising, reducing stress, and eating well. There is even information on how to make your own, natural products! I especially like the emphasis on enjoyment (like travel, spending time with family, etc.) and an important part of the anti aging process!

Gilbert is very knowledgeable and credible in the manner in which she explains the effects of exercise (good and bad) on our bodies. The amount or research that has gone into this book is evident. I now understand how our bodies are designed to move and also how damaging many other exercise programs have been. I will definitely keep this book as a reference.

This is the second of Douglas' books i've read and was overjoyed with the insight and thought provoking statements. As a ritual, I wake up, read the daily passage and use it as a guideline as I go through my day. It's really helped me break free of constricting habits and allowed me to open my mind and explore new thoughts. Douglas has a strong and deep understanding of man's purpose on this planet and that is never more evident as you flip through the pages of Live Your Life in AWE.In short, this book has profound effect on the way I live my life. 24 of 25 people found the following review helpful. A starting point, no revolutionary advice By Afterbyrner Amazon was giving this book away, and I need a vacation, so I downloaded it. It's a quick read. Although it's about 77 pages you could read every word in about an hour. If you're new to travel hacking, or have never heard of travel hacking, this is as good a starting point as any. I'm not going to say that the information given is common sense, because a lot of people don't know much about anything, but the whole 77 page book basically boils down to one concept: sign up for rewards credit cards.I suppose one could call that a "travel hack," but I would prefer to think of it as a starting point. Basically everyone that wants to travel for free should begin by picking a destination, a carrier and signing up for their rewards card for the free miles. I was hoping for some advice on racking up miles AFTER getting the initial boost, or some super secret method of meeting the minimum spending requirements, or at least a script for getting out of paying yearly fees. Each of those tips are reduced to one or two paragraphs that basically give you a concept but no real direction.I would love to see some content added covering topics like miles runs, status bumps, obtaining free upgrades, or maximizing miles from spending. Otherwise this is just a really long tutorial about getting a bunch of credit cards.

Sorry to say, but it's geared toward absolute beginners, likely people in their early 20's who might have never seen a credit card before. The message of the e-book: "You can sign up for CC's and earn points and fly to anywhere you've ever dreamed!" The author says that he's only been doing this for 2 years. The book is filled with testimonials from other travel hackers that contain their Twitter accounts for you to contact them. Nobody shares anything really worthwhile to help you understand the game. The author himself says that he's never done tried any advanced points generation techniques, but shares some links to some blog entries (one of which was is already dead at the time of the book's release).The "valuable" minimum spend tips:- Make your mom an authorized user, ask her to spend like normal on your CC, then give you a check.- Go to restaurants with friends. Have them pay you back in cash- If necessary, eat the cost of paying your bills with a credit card. "It's worth it, seriously!"The book doesn't provide enough useful suggestions about particular cards to look out for. Instead, it's more about setting your goals beforehand and then carefully deciding on cards. The book provides a decent enough job of warning people not to overspend and how to not destroy your credit, but I feel like I could've written the same content, and I've only been doing this for a few months. The book does offer a free Udemy course, but given the material in the book, I probably wouldn't waste my time.So if you want a book that gives high-fives to a circle of friends and cheers you on for opening credit cards responsibly, buy this book. Otherwise, move along. There are better resources out there.The author thinks he'll charge $10 for this one day, but in my opinion this book would probably have difficulty selling many copies at $0.99. It's more useful to raise awareness to get people reading particular travel hacking blogs.

I've heard those rumors and stories from people who have a friend of a friend that finds some conniving way to game the system to their advantage. This friend of a friend always seems to get ridiculously good deals, to meet important people, and get to places where nobody you actually know has ever been. It seems to be some far off and difficult thing that normal people can't do. I was curious, and the book takes less than an hour to read, so I checked this one out. It's pretty well laid out, and *spoiler alert* it gives a step by step method of using credit card travel points that anybody can follow. Overall, I recommend it because of it's simplicity. Individuals can choose to implement it themselves or not depending on how they like to manage their money, but it takes that rumored concept which that one friend of a friend utilized to get all that cool stuff and lays out how it's actually done. Interesting read!

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. This book needs an editor! By Grit Lit Michelle Herman took to choral singing after a lifelong tendency to avoid group activity. The first part of this essay collection, by far the best part, describes how she came to join a local chorus. Her comparisons of her youthful self to her daughter, their bonding over performance, are charming.But then the book wanders off, in endless circles of thought, describing Herman's previous apartments in detail, along with her neighbors, favorite Broadway songs, and other disparate elements that she never manages to weave into a coherent narrative. I started to wonder if this book is self-published, as any editor would have cut 100 pages and forced the author towards coherence. As it is, Herman gets lost in boring details, with lines such as, "I'd started working at a 40 hour a week job the day after my last final at Brooklyn College, and saved every cent of every paycheck (minus subway fare and the cost of a daily cup of takeout coffee and a buttered roll from the Market Diner on 33rd and Ninth, halfway between my subway stop and the building where I worked..." If she can remember it, she tells it, no matter how unenlightening the facts. And she's careless with easily checked material, such as misspelling Eydie Gorme and Linda Ronstadt's names.There are better essay books. Might as well skip this one.

The author's description of our elderly in numerous situations touched me in ways I have never been able to vocalize. I was able to visualize her description and felt like I was with her - living every moment. Her ability to describe not only her experience with patients but also a glimpse into her life was unexpected and I felt 'true empathy'. Bucket Just Do It - A young woman on a mission By Shirley page This delightful true story chronicling Diamond Allen's unwavering resolve to complete her beloved grandmother's bucket list after she loses her battle with cancer is a charming story filled with emotional ups and downs. Diamond's self-deprecating humour is conveyed throughout this enjoyable read. I found myself laughing out loud one minute and worried for her the next. Her grandmother would be very proud of her determination. I loved this book!

I love how when I'm reading the characters make me laugh out loud. This was such a great book, and I can't wait for the next one!!

This book had a fun premise with the heroine dressed as a bunny trying to change a flat tire on the side of the road and the hero driving by trying to figure out what he was seeing!!! I loved it! This author writes such good stories. Rafe is a great hero and I enjoyed getting to know him better. He was introduced in the first book in the series. Although he was more serious, his backstory told us why and I enjoyed how falling in love with Sadie made him a happier person! Sadie is somewhat of a runaway bride but she had a good reason! I also enjoyed her backstory! Seeing her as a "fish out of water" on the ranch was very fun! She was brought up in the city so knows nothing about ranch life but takes it on with her whole heart when Rafe gives her a chance to "heal her wounds" and think through some things! I hope others like this story as much as I did!

And he was glad to see his twin brother, Cliff, so happy and in love with Maddie. Rafe had a hard time believing his brother could fall in love so quickly, but he had. As for himself, the hurt from the past was a good reminder to stay away from love. Then there was the bunny incident and everything changed.Sadie Archer was running away. After a shock, she just got in her sports car and drove. Who knows how far she might have gone if not for the flat tire. And because of that flat tire she met a dreamy cowboy. Not that she was looking for a hunk, far from it.Something about Mule Hollow seems to breathe love into the air. Whether the Matchmaking Posse have their hands in it or not, love seems to happen. And the more a couple fights the idea...the quicker things seem to happen.

Melted swept me into its second-chance love story, and I couldn't help but root for Jennie Marts' wonderful character Emily Wells. Everyone goes through twists and turns in life, and Melted is a very inspiring read about how one woman opens her heart and seizes the opportunity that life offers her for a "do over". Of course, I'm always a sucker for a happy ending, so if you're looking for a feel good romance that is as warm and sweet as a mug of hot cocoa with whipped cream on top, this is the perfect short read for you.

Logan and Emily were the perfect mix of sexy chemistry and sweet romance. This novella had all the elements that make me a huge Jennie Marts fan. This is one of the best short stories I have ever read. The writing flowed so beautifully and the characters were real and enticing. The Glencoe Cotton Mill and its village have a story very similar to that of other 19th- and 20th-century mill communities across the South. The mill operated from 1880 until 1954, and its employees lived in mill houses and shopped at the company store. After it closed, the community faded into vacant houses, rutted streets, and weed-covered properties. Unlike other mills, however, Glencoe found a spark of new life. People interested in its historyheaded by Graham resident Sarah Rhynejoined together to see the property declared a national historic site. Work reclaimed the mill and preserved it for the future. Preservation North Carolina helped, as did a number of individuals from the area, and life returned. Many of the mill houses have been purchased and restored and are now home to a new generation of residents. The Textile Heritage Museum occupies the old office-store building and, with its displays, shows the history of Glencoe and southern textiles in general.

By JJ Although some philosophy is better than none, particularly for theologians and pastors, this book just provides a very cursory overview of the subject and should be regarded as a "propaedeutic" to more rigorous study. From my point of view, many theologians and pastors would do better studying logic, the philosophy of language (and particularly religious language), as well as informal fallacies....
