6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Another winner, long scorching scenes, fast action adventure, romance, several mysteries, HEA, Mandy M. Roth's FAMOUS STYLE! By Sue Me This 7th book in the I-OP's series, brings Jon his forever mate. YEAH!The book opens in the deep South in the small town of Nape Field. Tori Manzo is slowly rocking in the shade of the wide covered front porch, watching her latest painting dry in the shade. She felt a strange compulsion to stay up and paint this beautiful Bengal tiger last night. She makes her living by selling paintings. She is quite talented, but this is one painting she will never sell. She's never painted animals before. Strange.Tori has lived in this home in Nape Field for ten years. Town folks still avoid her, but they have yet to run her out of town like they did in the last few towns she lived in. This one feels safe. Feels like home. She only has her dear grandmother for company. Grandmother is a ghost, long dead. Tori can see and talk to her and even share a hug and other touches.Grandma should arrive soon. She had Tori bake two apple pies to her exact recipe and reminded her to get the potatoes on to cook at a certain time. No matter where she's lived, Grandma has come to be with her."Grandma, tell me again why I keep making these pies and dinners for two, when you can't eat?" Grandma replies," If you make it, he will come. He loves apple pie, always did." "What man?" inquired Tori. "He'll be here soon enough." replied Grandma. "Do I get a say in this?" asked Tori. "NO'' was Grandma's answer. Grandma continued," Don't forget we're going to the memorial tomorrow morning."Back in Virginia close to the I-OP's home base, Jonathon Reynell was ticked! Mandatory Leave sucked! Yeah, he knew that for the last year he had been increasingly unstable and unreliable. He was their sharpshooter. They needed him calm and in control of Jon, the man and Jon, the Bengal tiger or one or more of them could die and with their deaths would come the deaths of their mates. Jon is now the only one of the 6 member team not to have found his mate. That too, sucked! What he has found is the bottom of too many liquor bottles. At the moment he is holding the yellowed remains of a letter from his best friend, Vinny. Vinny sent to him decades ago, but Jon has every word memorized. Vinny died in the same experiments that turned Jon into a were-tiger. He was surprised that Vinny died, as he too had some 'special talents'. He could see ghosts and predict events yet to come. They came true. Now, he is only days away from meeting his mate, but with that meeting her life will be put in immediate grave peril. He was forbidden to have any contact with his past, but he bought his mom a home and even after she died he reads the daily local paper of Nape Field. If he is to meet his mate in the next day, he will just fly to Nape field and attend the Memorial for Lost Soldiers. He knows that his name is inscribed there, and the body buried in his grave is not his. At least he will be protecting his mate, even if he never gets to be with her.By now, if you have read Mandy M. Roth's books, you KNOW that things are going to go sideways and upside down before we get our HEA. The mysteries just keep coming, some real shockers (can't wait for the next books). Of course they meet, he loves the pies, and because Tori cut her hand and Jon licked it better, he now can see, talk to, and feel when Grandma whops him on the head or pulls his ear when he swears. Tori and Jon fall in love instantly, but Jon tries to deny it at first. Dirty dealings and evil men galore, some things most unexpected...WOW! They eventually take the LONG way back to I-OP's in Virginia, and he makes her his mate, his forever wife, and he is her forever husband and mate. BUT WAIT...there is a LOT MORE COMING!!!!
5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. I feel like they must have gotten a different version than I ... By TKinFtWorth The reviews are almost as long as the book! I feel like they must have gotten a different version than I did....Book spans 2 days? and is 100 pages. Should be priced accordingly. It is not as intense as the others. But, there was an opportunity to give more.Hopefully with the list of books in this series and the offshoots, this will not become the norm. If so, I'll have to walk away from the series. You can read the long reviews others have given: I liked the book, good 'day in the life", would give it 5 stars if priced for content.
3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Lucky number 7 in the I-Ops world!!! By Nikki Brooks Jon Reynell is reeling from the loss of his friend, Lance. He is no longer the dedicated soldier he was. He can no longer give his team 100% and seeks solace in the bottom of a bottle or twelve. His teammates have found their mates and he still searches. But unknown to the I-OPS team he has a letter from a long dead friend, foretelling that when he meets his mate, danger will come to her.Attempting to deflect the bullet of fate, he decides to return to his tometown for a ceremony honouring fallen soldiers, including him and his best friend. But once he arrives he finds that Fate can be a determined entity and she has plopped his mate right in front of him.Tori is an emotionally fragile artist. It's not been easy being the town freak. Seeing dead people and talking to them is not a talent to be touted to the mob. And why has she taken to painting tigers!!! Her dead gran keeps telling her to "make it and and he will come". Apparently even the dead like a good Kevin Costner movie!!!I loved this book. I have enjoyed the entire series so far and it's great to see the team settling with their mates but that doesn prevent the action from coming thick and fast. It was great to see Johns backstory and what he had been through. Dealing with the loss of friends, from childhood and I-ops, was a very emotional topic and making John revisit his past was wonderful. Gran was a lovely comic relief to what could have been downright spooky goings on. She must have been a handful when alive! There were less explosions and battles than in other books of this series. This was most definately a more emotional ride. Sexy, sassy and suspense, everything a Roth book is!!!I was provided an ARC for an honest review.
