Homer I approached this book thinking it would be a great way for me to connect my love of (and respect for) animals to my own search for self-insight. I came out with that, but also learned a lot more! Each description of an animal comes with that creature's "message" and "warning" which is actually a psychological aspect of yourself,and it really helped me to consider how, for example, the life and behavior of a mouse relates to my life and choices I am making.Although this is listed as a reference book, I recommend reading the whole book as a self-help guide. It really helped me open my mind to how much we humans can learn from the rest of the animal kingdom!

The way it guides the reader to appreciate that it is through nature and each part of creation that teachings come is inspiring. Teachings on living life in a way that brings healing to Mother Earth and all of our fellow creatures so we are in harmony with the Universe.Seeking wholeness is part of the pathway to power. Every animal has many lessons to offer, and this colorful book with lovely images shares these secrets and how the study of an animal will reveal its' medicine (lessons) and help you call upon a specific animal when you are in need of their particular medicine

Excellent, with one flaw By Cloud I dearly love the WRITTEN content of this book, it is a spiritual guide to our encounters with wildlife, highly recommended as a gift for nature lovers. One precaution however, BEWARE: gruesome, magnified, photos of insects and snakes that bombard the senses of the reader. I have solved this problem by going through and taping solid white paper over the offending photos. There is an original, soft paperbound version of this book that has only small, black and white, innocuous drawings as illustrations which is much easier to stomach. In fact, the original version is such a perfect gem it is like pure gold. I'd recommend looking for that one instead. The authors should have stuck with that one but were no doubt drawn to the nat-geo version by some sensationalist.
