From the Author Writing Before It's Too Late was truly a labor of love. The impetus for this book began during the ten year period that I chaired a Teen Pregnancy and STD Prevention Program in Los Angeles. I saw parents and teens come together and begin to communicate truthfully and movingly about a subject that is often difficult to talk about. It became all too clear to me that educating parents and teens about teen sexual health was one of the most rewarding experiences that I, as an OB/GYN physician, could ever imagine. Many times parents don't feel comfortable talking to their children about sex, teen pregnancy, STD, etc. but here's a guide that will make you feel comfortable talking to your children plus it breaks the information down for all to understand. Your teenagers can now stop relying on their friends and these "reality shows" to learn about sex, instead they can learn from a reliable source..."YOU!" I highly recommend that you read this book and share it with your family and friends. It's a must read! I applaud Dr. Overton for her commitment to sharing this valuable information about teen pregnancy and STD prevention with parents throughout the world.

By Denise Bolds Dr. Overton does a great job of providing resources for teens and reproductive health. Overton's empowering 'can do' attitude is consistent throughout the book. What is most appealing: Dr. Overton has a medical degree but she doesn't use 'doctor terms' or 'medical jargon' what is often confusing and disengaging. What is not appealing: The price of this paperback: $18.95 is a bit pricey for some families. Otherwise, this is a great Segway to put on the kitchen table and open the door of discussion to a very challenging topic.
