About the Author Heather McCollum is an award winning, historical and contemporary YA paranormal romance writer. She earned her B.A. in Biology from the University of Maine, much to her English professor's dismay. She is a member of Romance Writers of America and was a 2009 Golden Heart Finalist. Ms. McCollum has four full length historical, paranormal romances released in both electronic and digital formats. She also has one short novella released in electronic format.

Astonishingly enough, when I saw Prophecy available on Netgalley, I did not put it all together.. And when I did I was so excited, as Prophecy is Book One in the Dragonfly Chronicles!Heather McCollum offers us an amazing story about well, life! Good vs Evil, defining yourself, accepting fate, NOT accepting fate, Fighting Evil, Standing up for what you believe in, Love, Family, politics.. I said it was about life!Serena Faw was literally dropped into this world. Making a splash so it were! As a child of nine, Serena was blessed to have been found and loved by a Rom Tribe in England. Raised as one of them but always apart. Her gifts kept her separate.. and even love had escaped her because she always knew what the other was plotting. When Serena bumped into a void.. she was astounded to realize that it was a man she couldn't read. A blessing. You even want to smack Keenan around for being willing to sacrifice love! But.. Ms McCollum does a wonderful job of pulling us back in and finding forgiveness. Another wonderful book that teaches us that fate is always trumped by free will!!Add to the prophecy, there is Serena's own destiny that needs to be discovered.. Oh and of course the entire thing is set in the days before the battle at Culloden.. So add intrigue and history as well!! I was asked to review this book over a year ago and I am just now posting the review. There are a lot of reasons, or excuses depending on your view, but I will just say that I am incredibly sorry to have not put this out in a timely manner.Prophecy is the first book in the Dragonfly Chronicles about four sisters sent from their era to other places throughout time in order to thwart evil and save the world. Serena, who is the protagonist sister for Prophecy, is dropped into a Romany tribe in Britain in the mid 1700s where she is raised as part of the family but she knows she is different and has “gifts” that others don’t have. Serena is both a telepath and can see the future.Serena finds herself falling for Keenan Maclean, who is immune to her telepathy. Keenan is equally drawn to Serena but his sense of duty and honor continually get in his way and therefore in hers. Keenan and his brother, Lachlan, are thought to be the brothers mentioned in a clan prophecy and were raised to put the clan and their destiny ahead of happiness.Prophecy is fairly complex in terms of plot - there is time travel, powers, prophecies, wrongful murder accusations, scheming clansmen, and the overarching good versus evil, save the world plot line that ties all four books together. It kept me turning the pages to see what would happen even when I was annoyed by some of the characters actions in regards to being together.Generally, I think that anyone who enjoys a good Highland hero, paranormal and historical romance will probably enjoy this book a great deal. I certainly enjoyed it enough to buy the next book in the series, Magick.

I stumbled upon it completely by mistake when I accidentally hit free sample on my Kindle. Maybe I was meant to find it because after reading the first few free chapters I had to read the whole book. The combined elements of magic, history, and romance makes for an enchanting read. Heather has created an amazing story that feels so real. I fell in love with these characters from the start. Kennan and Serena have a blazing chemistry that dang near had my Kindle smoking. Each time they come close to acting on their passion something stops them, making for some delicious anticipation. Kennan's unwavering duty to his clan, while admirable, made me want to jump in the story and beat some sense into his stubborn hide. My heart aches for Serena as she struggles to understand why the man she loves is holding back. The book comes to a battle filled conclusion at Culloden which added even more reality to the story. I loved the backdrop of Scottish history and the fiery passion between the characters. The story flows well and the use of Scottish dialects make it come alive. I do hope my question of what the demons that threaten Serena and her sisters actually are is answered in the following books. I give "Prophecy" an amazing 5/5, it quickly became a book I will read over and over. If you liked the Outlander Series you might enjoy The Dragonfly Chronicles.

I was drawn in very quickly by the characters and the locale. The author has a good way of describing the sensory magic of the desert. The shifter culture in this world is full of the typical inter-species politics and intra-pack difficulties you might expect, and I look forward to reading more from the side characters that were introduced here.The Hero of Desert Moon, Ty, really made me want to pinch his head several times. He is very Alpha, but he also carries a lot of burdens he doesn't have to deal with alone, he just thinks he does. He also thinks he has missed his chance with his forever mate, so that tends to disgruntle him and distract him from recognizing that mate when she returns, so that he resists despite his attraction. The heroine, Lana, is actually in similar circumstances, since she is also seeking an elusive scent she caught when she was a young woman, but she is a little quicker on the uptake and more willing to be brave with her body and emotions. One of my favorite scenes (spoiler) is when they sit together in wolf form, howling in harmony. Even after that connection, they still have a way to go.The story flows well and there are a few crises that keep the tension going even when you think things have settled. I enjoyed the read, and anticipate Ty's brother's story in the next book of the series. I love to read series novels that each have a completed story without cliffhangers and a HEA rather than a HFN. I was offered a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Lucky me!

I recieved an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.I absolutely loved the book and the way Anna Lowe writes in such detail that makes you feel your right there with them. The book is Hot, Steamy, action packed and will keep you wanting more.Ty Hawthorne who is the Alpha son and next in line to become the Alpha of the Twin Moon Ranch. While his father is away Ty is in charge. He was fearing of becoming his father's son not wanting to find love and settling down after 12 years before he had gotten the scent of his destined mate that he never met and that was the women he went searching for and never found.Lana Dixon, The daughter of the an enemie of the Ty's pack. Hadnt been back to Twin Moon Ranch in 12 years till now. She goes with her grandma to visit an old friend bring her back the Ranch.Ty and Lana from the start knew deep inside the minute they met that there were something between them. As Ty struggles about having or not having Lena as a mate. Not wanting to repeat his fathers way. Lena who wants nothing more than being mate Ty's mate and fight beside him.It's a must read book and series.. I can't wait to read the next book.. Your going to love it just as much as I have..

A man like that needed a lot of fixing By Daria “,,,A man like that needed a lot of fixing ~ and hell, she was no mechanic.”Old feuds...sins of a father...Alpha and pack politics are no match for fate. A magic that just cant be beat. Welcome to Ty and Lana’s world courtesy of Anna Lowe. Desert Moon the start of a new series about shifters . The story line is easy to follow and its about a decent length not too short not too long. The writer gave just enough detail to be interesting but not bog you down. For me I read it in one sitting, wishing I had the second one.The characters will come easy to you, Lana is back home in the desert only for a visit. A female shifter that is not afraid of standing up for herself, but also knows when to let things just go. Lana is smart and has a good head on her shoulders. Ty the up and coming alpha that is all about duty before desire. He also carries with him a smidgen of fear as far as women are concerned....more so as it has to do with mating. Both Lana and Ty’s human-self will battle wills with there animals. An a wee bit of jealousy rears its ugly head, as well as a couple of dangerous situations.I loved the 7-1 scene and how it was written, all I’ll say. (smiles) A few hot scenes worthy of fanning ones face. A new to me author and I am glad for the opportunity to read her work, I loved the story and can’t wait to read the next in the series. Enjoy

A Mate's Submission is the fourth book in the Ozark Mountain Shifters Series by P. Jameson and it totally rocks! I have followed this series from the very beginning. I have read each book and have loved them all but I must say, I was most looking forward to this one, Avan's story and it was definitely worth the wait! Jameson knocked it out of the park - again! The story is exciting, thrilling, action packed, riveting, original, well developed, romantic, arousing and sensual. Oh, and did I say hot? Oh yeah, it's hot! The dialogue is smart, sassy, well written and flows effortlessly. The characters are fascinating, captivating, engaging, endearing and sexy as sin. Jameson has expertly used her talent and skill to combine these elements into a wonderfully entertaining and exceptionally satisfying paranormal story full of adventure, suspense, fantasy and romance. It is so rare to see a female alpha - not just an alpha female but an actual female alpha wolf shifter. What's the difference you ask? Well, normally an alpha female is just a very strong female who is mated to the alpha but a female alpha is the one, the only, head honcho of the pack, and she has fought and clawed her way to the top, the hard way - by defeating the males. WOWZA! Talk about a strong woman! Avan is such a woman. She has renounced Cael, her intended and is now alpha of the Ozarka Pack but she must fight to keep it. She's had to endure countless suffering and knows she must now walk her path alone. She will never submit to the will of another male. She has accepted the fact that there will never be a mate for her. Or will there? Lexar is the first guard and best friend to Cael of Ravendale Pack. He hasn't felt an attraction for any female in 10 years, not since his intended denied him - until now. He feels an inexplicable pull to the female alpha of Ozarka, Avan, but it can never be. They are not each other's intended and besides, she's Ozarka and he's Ravendale. They're supposed to be enemies - aren't they? Nope, not possible - never going to happen! Of is it? No spoilers here! I guess you'll just have to read the book and find out but I will say this.......Beautiful strong female alpha wolf-check! Sexy alpha male wolf-check! Danger, drama and suspense-check! Sweet romance, heated attraction, hot chemistry, a perfect measure of angst and a healthy dose of beautiful sex-you betcha! Hubba! Hubba! I love it! And if that's not enough for you, we also get to see some of our other favorite characters from the series along with some new ones. I can hardly wait to see whose story is next! Maybe Avan's sister??? We can only hope! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!

This can stand alone, but is better if you know the previous events and characters. Avan is a female alpha. Her life has always been about being in control. Lexar is Cael's guard and seeks out Avan to see how the challenges are going for her title. He finds her badly hurt and needing help. Lexar is an awesome wolf, sexy dom type, and very much interested in Avan. They fight for each others control, and he is such a wonderful character. Wow ! Deep characters, interesting pack dynamics, and super hot sexiness make this story great ! High emotions, feeling people, strong wills and twists and turns are all here. ENJOY !!

This is that series.With the death of Jax and the threat of war behind the two packs, Avan has taken on the role of Alpha of the Ozarka Pack, with all that entails. She has made it through round after round of challenges when she goes radio silent. Concerned, Cael, her intended but rejected mate, sends his guardian and best friend Lexar to look in on her and assist as needed to help stabilize her traumatized pack. Lexar understands the non relationship between Cael and Avan because his intended mate rejected him ten years earlier, before running to Hawaii to put distance between them. And for the first time in ten years he is attracted to a female, an Alpha female, one with rules, and lots of attitude. An Alpha who refuses to submit to another alpha. But Lexar believes in Avan and that they can make it work. All it will take is mutual submission, work, and a whole lot of trust. But first she will have to accept help to heal, because the last challenge left her at death's door.

We were given a Strong female Lead in Grace, she is full as sass and spunk. Then there is Roman, swoon, who doesn't love a strong, protective alpha male who will grab a fist full of you hair when he kisses you?This was a great opening to the world of The Shifter Chronicles and it gives us insight on what we may have to look forward to in the future. This story is no different. I read the first shifter story “Saving Grace” so it was nice to be able to read how it all began.Grace was in the dark. She didn’t know about her family. She didn’t know she was a shifter. Ada, the woman who raised her wasn’t even her grandmother by blood. Even though the woman took her in and protected her all these years. Now the wolves are at the door literally. She has to decide to trust Roman and Colin and go with them when they are attacked by other wolves at her house. Her grandmother has left her a book with a note about her past and she has to trust this woman she has loved all these years.Grace is thrust into a world she knows nothing about and finds out that not only is she a shifter but she is royalty. Of course there is a threat of her being kidnapped and everyone is on high alert to protect her. She tries to digest all the information that is being thrown at her but it is a little overwhelming.I really liked this story. I have liked Grace from the beginning. She has stood up for the women and young girls and wants to make things better for the pack. This becomes a problem when she constantly is butting heads with the Alpha, Colin of her pack. She is very strong minded herself so I am sure this won’t be the end of their confrontations. I also like Roman. He is so caring and concerned for Grace. Even knowing that she could be his mate he doesn’t push her. He lets her take her time getting to know the traditions and the history of all the supernatural community.I can’t wait to read the second book in this series. I give this a 4 Flaming hearts.

Never been speechless about a book before.it keeps you on your toes, Grace had a lot to learn and a lot to reveal about her life. The life of a lychan, and now a mate to share it with. I cannot wait to read saving grace. Glad I decided risk read this one first.

A little girl is orphaned an raised by a family friend a fae is told that she is grandmother.Her dad left her there to go fight in a war between the packs to keep her safe the last of the royal blood line.Due to in breeding other packs stole other royal members used them for breeding to replenish blood lines used the females until they couldn't anymore then killed them which started the wars between the packs jostling for strength an power an the continued search for royal females until the only one left was the little girl hidden an safe.She grows into a beautiful woman just graduated from college someone posted her picture on the internet by her alumni she is found out an other packs are jostling to capture her first for breeding since she is the last royalty on the planet.Her own family pack find her first as she returns home from college.Her grandmother dies in her chair in the living room after she celebrates her graduation with her friends who also graduated as well.Two men show up saying there friends of her grandmother the very day she dies she doesn't know she's a Lycan until she reads her grandmother 's letter an until 2 wolves attack to take her back to there pack for breeding but the 2 other wolves from her pack save her an whisk her off to safety.Does she adjust to begin a Lycan instead of being a human?Is her safety still in Peril?You have to buy the book to find out. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. A Great Book about Mentor By Oaktree1 Mr. Matowitz has brought Mentor's past alive with photos and great descriptions and text. Being a long time Mentor resident this book brought back memories. It also taught me things that I didn't know, like the 1905 crash of the 20th Century Limited train. I was reminded that Eleanor B. Garfield was Mentor's Mayor in the 50s. The section on Paisley Farms reminded me of grade school when a Paisley girl was in my class. And the photo on page 115 of the volunteer sheriff patrol in the Headlands made me look twice to see if I could recognize a childhood friend whose father was one of those volunteers. There were of course things that didn't make it into the book that I would have liked to see but there is only so much room and someone has to decide what gets in and what doesn't. Anyone interested in Mentor should read this book. Well done, Mr. Matowitz.

This book will make you laugh and ugly cry, maybe even snort. It’s a book of life - real life! Not that “how to lose a guy in ten days” pretend life stuff. No, this book is real. You will read it feeling like you took a real life journey and be thankful you did. The title of the book was set in stone a year before the idea of a book really came to fruition. I’m an avid blogger (I think that’s a thing), and as I would blog about my son’s journey through cancer treatment I would always put “Thankful for the Fight” in my signature. No, I’m not thankful my son got cancer, but I am thankful he got to fight it. Growing up, I watched people around me receive calls that their child was gone. No chance to fight - just gone. That was not my experience. We were told our son Cannon had a 50/50 chance of survival. I took that and ran and I am thankful we got to fight! Many parents wish they had that luxury and the hope is that this book illustrates my awareness of that. All proceeds of this book go to Cannonball Kids’ cancer, a children’s cancer research foundation started in June of 2014. We are dedicated to finding cures for all childhood cancers by funding critical research needed to improve antiquated treatments and eliminate the occurrence of life-threatening side effects and secondary cancers.

Brutally Honest - Great Awareness Tool for Childhood Cancer By Bayley This book is a brutally honest account of Cannon Wiggins battle with Neuroblastoma childhood cancer. I didn't give it 5 stars simply because I do not "Like" the subject matter, childhood cancer. However, the book was very well written. Please bring tissues. Parents might want to read the book before having their children read it given the subject matter, but I believe it could be a great discussion tool. This book is laid out in a journal format with the fears, joys, and anger Cannon's parents experience through the time Cannon is diagnosed on April 19, 2013 to July 2, 2014, 440 days after diagnosis.

By lep I received a complimentary book from Net Galley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.This is a new author to me, but I was looking forward to reading this book because it is in my favorite genre, romantic suspens. Rachel Carpenter used to be a regular on a soap opera. She is divorced and has three children and is now the owner of a book star. She is close to her sister, Grace, who is outgoing and crazy in a fun way. Rachel, on the other hand, is a more quiet and introverted person.Grace's boyfriend is a cop who brings along his detective friend when he met Grace and Rachel after work. Kane is good-looking and very much the gentleman but he has his own problems. He has to take two weeks off and he spends them at a wilderness camp so he can relax and get his thoughts together and work on his problem. Rachel brings her three daughters and also goes to the wilderness camp which is where their feelings begin to grow slowly. I really like this, because this is more reality. People are attracted to each other and then, as they get to know each other better, they find themselves slowly falling in love.Then there is the "monster," Rachel's stalker who wants Rachel to belong to him. He is constantly watching her and waiting until he can make his move.I likes this book because the characters are realistic. Rachel puts her children first. Her oldest is getting involved in things that she should not be doing at 14 years old, so her mother decides to go to the wilderness camp to get her away from the friend who is instigating the events. I love that the author lets us see inside the stalker's mind, so we get an idea of how jumbled and irrational his thoughts are.I am not sure if this is the first in a series or if there were other books before this. However, it doesn't matter because, either way, I had not problem understanding everyone's background. I did see that the author has another book in this series coming out in July, so I am definitely looking forward to reading that book.

ARC REVIEW Everything I look for in a Romantic Suspense By HannahPilar I love a romantic suspense book where the heroine is being stalked by a psychopath.I loved Rachel she is a single mom struggling with three kids one a rebellious teenager who is on the road to being a troublemaker. To get her daughter away from bad influences and to spend some family time together she plans a camping trip. She recently met a handsome man, a San Francisco police officer on vacation who mentioned his brothers business, a campground up in the mountains. Kane Lafferty is on the verge of being burned out he decides to take some time to himself to sort out if he wants to continue being a police officer. Spending the time at his brother campground helping out is the thing he needs, and when the gorgeous woman he met in San Francisco shows up with her girls in tow she is a pleasant distraction. It's an instant attraction that they are willing to find out where it could lead.After Rachel and her girls leave Rachel is attacked and it turns out this person has been stalking her for a long time. He keeps referring to her by the name of a character she played when she was a soap actress years ago. Scared for Rachel, Kane rushes to her to protect her. Working with her small town Sheriff Kane helps try and track down the stalker all the while winning over Rachel's daughters.This book had everything I ask for in a romantic suspense; great romance, great suspense and just the right amount of action to keep me turning the page until the end. I really enjoyed this book and I look forward to the next book in the series.

16 of 16 people found the following review helpful. A Believable and Satisfying Romantic Suspense By Margo Hoornstra Kane and Rachel need each other; they just don't know it for a while. Kane is the rugged but sensitive cop haunted by a case gone horribly wrong. Rachel is a single mother struggling to raise three daughters, each in various stages of adolescence. Enough chaos going on to try anyone's soul, when suddenly Rachel's life is in danger and Kane will do anything to save her. This is a well written and satisfying read from the romance between the central characters to the suspense that nearly does them both in. Believable people facing plausible issues. I was given an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review and am extremely pleased to highly recommend this book. Can’t wait for the next in the Who’s Watching Now series.
