Meditation for Beginners: 7 Incredible and Easy Ways to Still Your Mind, Hear the Voice of Your Intuition and Trust Your Heart Through Meditation, by Nicolas Knoll

About the Author Hi there, Nicolas here. I can honestly say that discovering meditation, its benefits, what it really is and what it really means to meditate, helped me immensely to become better person - a stronger version of myself. It's interesting how "not thinking" practice actually helped me discover my goals and many of my passions and interests in life, which include: swimming, hiking, mountain biking, playing guitar, music, self-improvement, active meditation, writing etc. Even though I'm not an expert by any means, I'm well aware of how meditation can help you improve your life by getting to know yourself better. That's why I specifically created a book on meditation, where I talk about a few very powerful and beginner-friendly ways to meditate and get the full benefits. Because of my passion for writing and publishing, you can expect many more books from me on the self-help topic, as well as other topics where I can provide value and serve you best - like playing guitar. I'm all about continuous life-improvement and discovering your true-self so that we can find and attract beauty into our lives, be the best we can be, and enjoy life as much as possible. I really wish to provide my readers with great value, and for my books to be a source of inspiration to you. I'm sure that you will enjoy them and find some benefits! Stay tuned for more books. Wish you all the best, Nicolas Knoll

By Steven Farris If you've never meditated before but want to, or if you are a beginner, still learning the ropes, this would be a great book to get. It is packed with great meditation exercises for the novice, many of which you can practice in a mere 15 - 20 minutes and be done. Nicolas covers a lot of ground here, explaining the benefits of meditation and (I won't spoil it for you), the Ultimate meditation benefit (with which I concur)! But over and above the good advice and tips on making meditation a part of your life, the mediation exercises are excellent. The book itself is well written and absorbing, so if you're on the fence as to weather to cough up the dough and find enlightenment, I would advise you to do it... I don't think you'll regret it as your health and outlook will benefit greatly from practicing the methods contained in this book!

Something for Everyone By Rebecca of Amazon If thinking about meditation makes you think of monks chanting then all the other ways you can meditate may surprise you. This book has seven methods of meditating which range from the bizarre to the calming. I liked the breathing meditation best and that usually works for me. But there is a whirling meditation which might not be for everyone. You end up falling on the floor in a heap. Well some people might not be able to do that. It sounds OK for the younger set who are very flexible and padded. I did like the section on running and swimming. This book also explains the benefits of meditation and told me lots of things I didn't already know. The benefits are really amazing and with some of these meditations you can get a rush of endorphins which is always fun.~The Rebecca ReviewThank you to the author for a free copy to review. This review is my honest opinion.

It then goes into several tips and steps that can help you learn meditation. Meditation takes time and isn't easy but the benefits are so great that I'm working hard on it. This book will help me learn meditation.

Review ''No better explanation of medievalism is available to the general reader.'' --Booklist''A good book for general readers on this fascinating period of history.'' --Washington Post Book World''Cantor's fine prose is ably read by Frederick Davidson.'' --Library Journal ''Cantor . . . writes with wonderful fluidity; his lucid prose moves from topic to topic with effortless grace.'' --AudioFile

About the Author NORMAN F. CANTOR (1929-2004) was emeritus professor of history, sociology, and comparative literature at New York University. His academic honors included appointments as a Rhodes Scholar, Porter Ogden Jacobus Fellow at Princeton University, and Fulbright professor at Tel Aviv University. His earlier books include Inventing the Middle Ages, nominated for a National Book Critics Circle Award, and The Civilization of the Middle Ages, one of the most widely read narratives of the Middle Ages in the English language.

From AudioFile Booklist called this book the "standard one-volume history" of the period and said, "No better explanation of medievalism is available to the general reader." Cantor, Professor of History and Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at New York University, writes with wonderful fluidity; his lucid prose moves from topic to topic with effortless grace. Reader Frederick Davidson contributes a British enunciation to the text but adds little enthusiasm. Listen to this to learn something, not for the production. D.W. (c)AudioFile, Portland, Maine

Carlton The confusion with all of the different opinions on this classic college introductory European medieval history text are clearly due to the differences in the backgrounds of the various readers.Cantor has produced a book that is absolutely wonderful in it's ability to pull together the twisted history of both major and minor events throughout Europe and relate them to one another. Being able to understand how Papal politics impacted the Germanic Princes and then caused reactions in England and the Low Countries, which then produced French political events that influenced the Papacy.....great stuff when it can all come together like this!Cantor can read like an enjoyable novel if you have an active interest in the medieval period, he points out the seeds of feminism and does a good job of placing them in the context of the period, he does the same for heresy, piety and the monastic movements, law and politics, the development of monarchism, the growth of the bourgeoisie, and a host of other factors and elements from the middle ages. There are valid criticisms of his work though....some of his facts are wrong (some he should have know and others have now had additional historical thought added to them)....for example, the Turks taking Constantinople and the details of the death of Thomas a Becket. More serious to me though is the lack of footnotes (which are so essential to credibility that the readability issues must take second consideration) and the total lack of maps to help with orientations (especially important for those not intimately familiar with medieval European geography).I've created lists that provide Amazon links to Cantor's top 10 medieval books and top 10 films, if you want to continue to follow the syllabus for medieval understanding that he lays out in the book.

But I must tell you that I was very nearly put off it by the author's tragically flawed understanding of Greek and Roman society. Greek and Roman culture are my areas of interest so I do feel I have some basis upon which to offer this critique. The fact that his understanding of ancient society is flawed is rather frightening, because, as Cantor himself says, "...the heritage of the ancient world set the conditions for medieval society." So as I waded further into his book it was with considerable trepidation. If he got Greece and Rome so very, very wrong, how on earth could he get the Middle Ages right? For example, reflect upon this near polemical attack on the Roman educational system (which seems to be to blame for a lot if Cantor is to be believed): "The Romans were psychologically damaged by their educational system, as evidenced by their violence, aggression, sadism, hostility to women, and other unattractive characteristics. Children were treated badly, indeed, and many of them grew up to be sadomasochists."It gets better. He goes on to remark that "...vestiges of this system have lived on into the twentieth century. The educational system of the medieval church was based on the Roman, and there were a good many neurotic educated adults within the medieval church."And what exactly are the characteristics of the Roman educational system that produced this race of monsters? "It is a natural system for an aristocratic society, which needs to train its young people only to accept power handed on to them." The men who taught these benighted children were, and I QUOTE: "often slaves and frequently frustrated, sadistic men."Wow!!! When you read something as novel and outlandish as this, you really want to see some source documentation. But you will be disappointed here. These remarks are not foot-noted and indeed one of the GRAVE failings of this book is that despite the fact Cantor re-edited and updated the entire text, he does not offer foot-notes. Having said that, his bibliography is quite good -- it is organized around a sort of top ten list format. But, curiously, the bibliography is placed AFTER a list of the best movies (!) on the Middle Ages.I suppose like many scholars, he is a "man of his period" so to speak. His understanding of the Middle Ages is fluent and masterful, but his knowledge of the epochs that preceded it scanty and ill founded. Still I find it breath taking that he could be so wrong in places.Having said this, my patience was rewarded. And my reading on the Middle Ages that I undertook as a result of this book have affirmed my faith in Cantor: he does, after all, get most of it right! What was revolutionary about Cantor's book is that, as the jacket says, his was the "first comprehensive general history of the Middle Ages to centre on medieval culture and religion rather than political history."A vital companion to this would be John Julius Norwich's three volume series on Byzantium and Marcia Colish's "Medieval Foundations of the Western Intellectual Tradition 400-1400 (Yale Intellectual History of the West)". Do not, under any circumstances bother with William Manchester's gravely flawed: "A World Lit Only By Fire" (for why I say that, see my review of that book).

By Jonathan Dirrenberger As a newcomer to the history of the Middle Ages, this book was my first in the subject (other than textbooks from college on Western Civilization). I have truly enjoyed it and it has given me a decent overview of the vast era (and he has an excellent list of further reading, including movies!), but it definitely wasn't what I was expecting, as it is more of a narrative than a simple laying out of the facts. Being a narrative has its advantages (it makes for a more interesting read, almost like a novel at times), but it can certainly be confusing. As expected, the book has a general trend of moving chronologically forward from the disintigration of the Roman Empire to the beginnings of the Renaissance, but the subjects are organized more by theme than date, and this can be very confusing for a newcomer to the field. As one reviewer mentioned, not having any maps and some sort of timeline to put everything together is a big problem, something which is really needed to give the book cohesion.I found the way Cantor introduced the Middle Ages to be highly enlightening. He starts from the late Roman Empire and seamlessly flows into the Middle Ages, so seamlessly that I didn't even realize the "introduction" had ended and that I was now into the Middle Ages. I was expecting it just to start abruptly like most history books, but Cantor spends the first 4-5 chapters developing the background from which the Middle Ages sprung. It makes it clear how hard it is to define the beginning of the Middle Ages (like almost any age of history).Cantor's style of writing tends to use long, run-on sentences and many different terms for referring to the same concept or idea (have a dictionary handy!), so it sometimes requires more effort than needed to understand what he's saying. And like any historian, his own personal bias slips in at times, but I didn't find it over-bearing at all. He undoubtedly knows his stuff, but he could use an editor who could give it some cohesion via maps, a timline, and footnotes to explain concepts he often blows over. Nonetheless, I recommend this book for any newcomer to the field.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. funny, insightful By Kristen Beneduce Raw, funny, insightful, modern, brave, entertaining, and real. I listened to the audiobook version while travelling. Perfect travel companion book! Sex and The City but smarter. Cheryl Sandberg but more genuine. Eat Pray Love without losing sight of reality. I was able to reflect and appreciate my own experiences, from travel to relationships, and laugh at some of the more imperfect moments through the author's entertaining anecdotes - so many little gems. What a fun read!

It's often a wonder how, when driven off the life course planned, women can and probably should pack up the pieces and hit the road. But instead of coming across as highfalutin, this story was real, it was conversational and it took me into her mind and travels in an easygoing tone. I'm curious to see where the author will find herself once she reaches her final destination.

I immediately connected with the story from start to finish. Throughout the memoir, I could not help but to admire Ko's innate ability to say the things that most never have the courage to say. Bravo for her fortitude and strength... and inviting us all to join in on her journey of self-exploration!

In The Singing Irish, Michael Alan Anderson brings to life the rich history and traditions of the Notre Dame Glee Club. Replete with nearly three hundred images, the stunning large-format book examines the early history of the ensemble before 1915, its robust membership, rehearsal and concert customs, and the contributions of its conductors through the decades. Anderson interviewed dozens of Glee Club alumni going back to the early 1940s to narrate the vibrant story of the group, while assembling a wealth of documents that detail the activities undertaken—and impressions made—by this extraordinary musical ensemble. The group’s famous appearances on the Ed Sullivan Show in the early 1950s marked the height of the Glee Club’s visibility; however, the ensemble continues to sell out concerts on national and international tours, having traveled to nearly every state in the United States and numerous countries in Europe, Asia, and Central America. Through its eclectic repertoire and polished singing, the Glee Club has achieved a lofty status among collegiate choral ensembles in the United States, beloved by students, members of the Notre Dame family, and friends and supporters of the university around the world. Combining the meaningful culture of Notre Dame with the highest standards of artistic excellence, The Singing Irish makes a wonderful keepsake for fans and alumni of the Notre Dame Glee Club as it enters its centennial year. "We, the alumni of Our Lady's University, have been blessed by being able to listen to and enjoy the beautiful voices coming from the Notre Dame Glee Club. This book is a 'must read' for all Notre Dame alums and friends of the university. You will feel the spirit of The Singing Irish because it reflects the soul of the Notre Dame Glee Club throughout the group's first one hundred years. Michael Alan Anderson has captured the essence of what makes this group so memorable for its members and for its audiences around the world. Let the music flow as you turn the pages." —Charles "Chuck" Lennon ('61, '62MA, DL H'11) “Glee Club alumnus Michael Alan Anderson has bravely and lovingly taken on the job of recording the history of this special group in The Singing Irish. In the first place, it is thoroughly researched and scrupulously verified from archives, articles, letters, yearbooks, newsletters, and reports. But more than that, its real goal has been to uncover the spirit underlying the facts of the story. The Notre Dame Glee Club is not just a trained and well-practiced group of university level students working in the field of music. It is a fellowship, a fraternity, of more or less ordinary young men who have been guided and shepherded as much as academically taught, accompanied on their way to maturity.” —Dorothy A. Pedtke, daughter of longtime Glee Club director Daniel H. Pedtke

The Singing Irish: A History of the Notre Dame Glee Club, by Michael Alan Anderson

Review "One of the greatest assets we have here at Notre Dame is our Glee Club. Somehow, year in and year out, they come up with wonderful singers, great songs, and performances that are nothing short of fantastic. I don't know what we can do to thank the men for their long hours over the years that the Club puts into practicing for their performances. May I say that I am grateful for all of the wonderful performances of the Glee Club, not just here on campus but around the world. I haveenjoyed many of their performances each year and I never cease to be edified by their spirit and wonderful presentation." --Rev. Theodore Hesburgh, C.S.C. (1917-2015), President Emeritus of the University of Notre Dame.

About the Author Michael Alan Anderson is associate professor of musicology at the Eastman School of Music and was a member of the Notre Dame Glee Club from 1993 to 1997.

There are many myths that justify drinking and or drunkenness. The classics are the following: I drive better when I have a few drinks under my belt. I can last longer when I'm having sex. I am not an alcoholic as I only get drunk when I mix drinks. You should never drink brown liquor because that's what bums drink. I held onto these types of sayings because I was ashamed of the truth. The truth was the fiction I set afoot in my mind to justify my behavior. The stories contained in this book are excerpts of many, many stories I have heard in the rooms of AA all around the world. The real truth is that AA allowed me to have a life that is alcohol free, so I could set the record straight about the fiction that lies about the truth.

On America’s western frontier, myths of prosperity concealed the brutal conditions endured by women, slaves, orphans, and the poor. As poverty and unrest took root in eighteenth-century Kentucky, western lawmakers championed ideas about whiteness, manhood, and patriarchal authority to help stabilize a politically fractious frontier. Honor Sachs combines rigorous scholarship with an engaging narrative to examine how conditions in Kentucky facilitated the expansion of rights for white men in ways that would become a model for citizenship in the country as a whole. Endorsed by many prominent western historians, this groundbreaking work is a major contribution to frontier scholarship.

Home Rule: Households, Manhood, and National Expansion on the Eighteenth-Century Kentucky Frontier (The Lamar Series in Western History), by Honor Sachs

Review “Honor Sachs demonstrates conclusively that understanding the early American frontier requires taking women and their families seriously. Her sophisticated questions, admirable research, engaging writing, and powerful argument make for compelling history.”—John Mack Faragher, author of Daniel Boone: The Life and Legend of an American Pioneer (John Mack Faragher)“Too many politicians and pundits today look longingly back to a golden age of the family, as a guide to imagining the nation’s future. Honor Sachs’s elegantly wrought study of the discords and detriments of domesticity on the Kentucky frontier should make them pause in their reveries. Sachs brilliantly counts the cost of ‘free land’ for white men in the miseries wrought on women, enslaved people, orphans and the poor. This is American history at its most eye-opening.”—Virginia Scharff, author of The Women Jefferson Loved (Virginia Scharff)“Putting households at the center of life in Kentucky, Honor Sachs offers fresh perspectives on poverty, land speculation, and violence as well as on conceptions of masculinity and citizenship in the Early Republic. Home Rule ought to ensure that questions of gender will inform all future studies of governance in trans-Appalachian North America.”—Andrew Cayton, The Ohio State University (Andrew Cayton)“A valuable addition to scholarship in gender history and early American studies. Sachs takes a familiar story—the story of America’s first frontier—and tells it in a fresh and compelling way.”—Melanie Goan, University of Kentucky (Melanie Goan)“The approach is original and important to the history of the early American republic and trans-Appalachian studies.”—Craig Thompson Friend, author of Kentucke’s Frontiers   (Craig Thompson Friend)

About the Author Honor Sachs is assistant professor of history at Western Carolina University. She lives in Asheville, NC.

Ingram This is a smart, fascinating, and well written account of challenges facing settlers on the eighteenth-century Kentucky frontier. Sachs does a masterful job of showing how early contests over gender, class, and race helped to shape conceptions of manhood and citizenship in the rest of the young nation. Even nonacademic readers will appreciate Sachs's command of complex material and her fabulous storytelling skills.

9 of 9 people found the following review helpful. Not Recommended By J N Very disappointing. This story is poorly written. The characters' reactions after the bride's deception (AND IT IS A BIG DECEPTION!!!) are completely unrealistic! I will admit that the "twist" in this story is a good/creative one -- but the story does not live up to to it's potential.

7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. Short, unrealistic By A. Starkey Although the author had a surprise in store for the reader, this mail order bride book was short, and I never felt the characters were fully developed. To discuss more would spoil the twists in the book. It was your typical unrealistic romance, with the ending thrown together (or so it seemed.) There are much better mail order bride books available.

6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Totally unrealistic outcome By Loree I found all the same problems other did with this book with regard to grammar, stilted dialogue, etc. But, the biggest problem I had with this book was the heroine (although, its hard to refer to her as such). Her deception is beyond amazing and the author tries to smooth it over by creating another love interest. The Hero should have dumped her like a hot potato, instead it took one day for him to forgive all. Whose world does he live in?

8 of 8 people found the following review helpful. Single-handedly revives the field of philosophy By Graham H. Seibert Quintus Curtius is a philosopher. Philosophy itself, systematic inquiry into how people should live, has been a dead letter for a century or more. Political philosophy addresses the question of how we should order our collective lives to the greatest benefit of all. Moral philosophy attempts to tell us how we should treat our fellow man, to answer the question of what is the proper course of action in a given situation. Personal philosophy advises the indivual with regard to how to realize as much as possible of his God-given talents. The major insight of the 20th century was that it couldn't be done. Everybody will come up with different answers, and given that all morality is relative, and happiness is defined differently by each individual, there can be no definitive philosophy. Why should we bother?Curtius approaches the question of why we should bother from a number of different directions. Some of his essays are accounts of e feats by remarkable men who were motivated by their personal philosophies. We are inspired by the examples of intrepid explorers in the empty quarter of Arabia or an obscure corner of Antarctica, or the heroics, resolves, and teamwork of military men under extreme stress. In other essays he examines what the classical Greek and Roman philosophers, the Arabs who became intellectually dominant following Mohammed, and the Jewish and Christian philosophers of the Middle Ages and Renaissance. Those of us Americans who were educated back when the pedagogues took their job seriously learned enough to know how much we did know. Few American schools teach the classics, but we were exposed to Plato, Augustine, Spinoza and other great minds to the extent that we regretted not knowing them better. Quintus Curtius is a balm for the soul. He has read virtually everything that you have heard of, in the original Greek, Latin and Arabic, and has the gift of being able to summarize briefly and eloquently, flattering the reader's intelligence. That is my first bit of advice in this review. Given that very few of us will have time to read the classic authors, reading Curtius is the next best thing. His essays are concise. He may not go into as much depth as other authors such as Ferdinand Mount or Will and Ariel Durant, but he deftly conveys the gist of the arguments. His most thought-provoking articles are on morality. What matters more: the quality of the outcome, or the purity of the motives? One essay strongly supports letter position. What are our obligations to our family, community and nation? How do we arbitrate among conflicting demands? In one essay, he examines the classical arguments for and against marriage. He allows the skeptics' argument to stand, asserting that a man should enter marriage only for the purpose of having children, and only when he has found a close to ideal mate. This is an area in which I wish Quintus Curtius would press further. The society, our civilization is brought forward through the ages not by the offspring of extraordinary people, but those of the average people who somehow rise upon occasion to become extraordinary. Somewhere among the obligations of a human being must be the duty of continuing the species, culture, tribe and clan. Curtius does not give it the attention I would like to see. On the other hand, I do not recall classical authors doing so either. Even Jewish and Christian Scripture, while they admonish people to behave in such a way that will encourage offspring, do not justify assuming the burden of parenthood beyond saying that it pleases the Lord and that children will be a crown of glory in one's old age.One of the great pleasures of reviewing books is encountering towering intellects, people in whose presence I am sure I would feel quite humbled. I have enjoyed reviewing Richard Dawkins, Stephen Pinker, Richard Feynman, Daniel Kahneman and Nicholas Nassim Taleb. These are people who could have done anything that they wanted in life. They have chosen to increase mankind's knowledge, and have the gift of writing clearly and incisively to share what they have learned. I add Quintus Curtius to this company.Curtius is a man of many parts. In this book we learn, among other things, that he was a Marine intelligence officer in Serbia and has worked as a lawyer. But his profession does not define him. He could find worldly success pursuing any number of paths. However, true to his philosophy, he continues the pursuit of knowledge of the classics, and the practice of writing essays to convey his insights to the rest of us. I leapt at the chance to read Pantheon, having vastly enjoyed his first book, Thirty Seven: Essays On Life, Wisdom, And Masculinity. Although the book is structured to let the reader put it down after any essay, I found myself not wanting to until I got to the end.

8 of 8 people found the following review helpful. EXCELLENT WORK BY AN EXCELLENT AUTHOR!!! By Jeff Woods This book is a triumph in every sense of the word. No one else is doing what this guy is doing, anywhere. It must have taken the author years of study to put together all of these essays as he did, using all original sources. You can read these essays multiple times and get different things out of them each time. This is a collection of essays on moral, philosophical, and historical subjects. My favorites are "The Ghost of Christopher Hitchens" and "Fortress of the Mind." You have to read this book carefully, as every paragraph is dense with meaning. I never really understood Plato until I started going through the chapter on Plotinus.Clearly Quintus is a master of the subject matter, and shows a range of vision that covers the European and Middle Eastern intellectual traditions. You get practical advice as well as spiritual guidance. I'm not finished with the book just yet, but I can tell that this is something that I'm going to draw on for years to come.

Pantheon delves into the lives of some of the most brilliant and daring men throughout history By Seth As soon as I heard Quintus Curtius was writing a 2nd book, I anxiously awaited its release, and a few hours after it was available on Amazon I was devouring it on my Kindle.Pantheon delves into the lives of some of the most brilliant and daring men throughout history. He recreates their lives through engaging, narrative essays that have the perfect blend of excitement and erudition. One of the things that makes Pantheon so unique is that it stands alone as a work of a true scholar in our modern world. Most books on the subject of masculinity repeat empty platitudes for 200 pages trying to hype up the reader; Pantheon does a more effective job without even trying! This book is reminiscent of something a scholar would have created centuries ago and doesn’t resemble the books of the past 50 years; and that was his goal. Our modern society, with its abundance of material comforts and unrelenting smugness, has exchanged masculine conviction and strength for a weak-kneed relativism, in which everything is so perfectly balanced out that we are left paralyzed with inaction.”Just reading the Prologue got my heart pumping. You must read it yourself, but it explores the desperate attempts of British archeologist Howard Carter to discover the lost tomb of King Tut. All hope seems lost after his prolonged and frantic searching, and just as time is running down he reaps the fruits of his labor. You failed and failed, and then, after agonizing labor in fits and starts, you won. He knew what the elements of success were: unerring faith in one’s own ability, the backing of a dedicated person, and a sustained period of grueling labor. These were the ingredients of victory.”One of my favorite essays from Pantheon was the ‘Ghost of Christopher Hitchens’. I am a Hitchens fan myself (See my review of Arguably), and it was interesting to see Quintus devise this scenario.Essentially QC and Hitchens get into a debate on the virtues (or lack thereof) of religion. Quintus argues that:…religion performs an essential moral function. Religions are the vehicles by which a society’s moral code is transmitted to the generations. Originally, temporal rulers found it indispensable to cloak their laws and commands in the garb of religion.”Religion often get the scorn of the ‘Red-Pill’ community, but I agree with Quintus and think it plays an integral role in our society. The Pursuit of MasculinityPantheon is about the unbridled and unapologetic pursuit of masculinity, truth, wisdom, and virtue throughout history. In fact, it is a perfect example of why I started this site, and why it needs to be featured without question.…new approaches to man’s ancient problems were desperately needed, and would be gratefully welcomed. The unchanging themes of the life of man had cried out for a new voice, and a new technique, that might give them a contemporary resonance.”The Wisdom our Society Has Been MissingAnother desirable aspect of this book is the fact that Quintus is much older than others in this realm of the internet. That is by all means a compliment, because too often books of this nature are lacking in maturity. These are the type of guys who spend a couple weeks working on an eBook, slap a price tag on it and shove it down your throat as a “MUST READ FOR ALL MEN” type of thing; not Pantheon.Quintus’s love of history and philosophy is abundantly clear and he doesn’t need to rely on clever marketing tactics to get his book out there (If you’re not familiar with his work, check out his Return of Kings articles). This needs to be emphasized because books of this nature must come from someone who’s spent decades in this pursuit, which the reader can clearly see, most notably in his impressive translations of numerous languages. There are many blogs and books out there written by men in their early 20’s (Such as myself) espousing their own views of the world. This is a good thing for a number of reasons, but there comes a point where a young man must draw a line that he will not cross because he simply doesn’t have the knowledge or experience to remark on certain subjects; sadly, that line is crossed too often. That said, some of the essays can be tough to read as the language and style can be quite complex. This is especially the case in the section where he explains Neo-Platonic philosophies. I won’t even attempt to explain that section, as I need to go back and try and read it again myself.Pantheon is truly a remarkable piece of work, and hopefully it will facilitate the growth of NeoMasculinity in our society. I doubt all men are up to the challenge of reading this book, but it is a highly rewarding one for those that are.http://masculinebooks.com/2015/04/13/pantheon-adventures-in-history-biography-and-the-mind-by-quintus-curtius/#sthash.1kIGvQxa.dpuf

Definitely not for catapult prudes or folks that can’t stand a good belly laugh mixed in with their scholarship By Sarah Watts Murray brings enough humor to the subject of ancient catapults, I found it hard to tell the difference between laughing and learning. Definitely not for catapult prudes or folks that can’t stand a good belly laugh mixed in with their scholarship. Just my cup of tea.
