Another great read by Cathy By Sharon Frizell Another great read by Cathy, Connor MacLaurey has come back to be the laird of his clan ,after the death oh his father , and in the process he learns his betrothed , Brianna Douglas is accused of of stealing cattle and has to petition the king for clemency to free her , not a man who wants to marry ,he is trussed into the marriage with Brianna who also doesn't want to marry after the death of her husband ,she only wants to look after her clan and little brother, wow you are in for some surprises and some twist and turns with this book , will they marry or not , and also we have adorable collie named Tam , want to find out more pick up this book and i hope you enjoy as much as i did , thanks Cathy for a wonderful read .

The heroine was a hateful, bitter, immature, spiteful, manipulative, passive- aggressive shrew. I loved the hero from book 3, and did not like that he was saddled with this hateful heroine, he definitely deserved better. But then I began to lose respect for him because the more spiteful and unreasonable the shrew his betrothed was, the more he would grovel and demean himself to her, which was what she wanted of all men. At one point in the book, the heroine used and took advantage of a sweet character from the book who was her protector and very loyal to her, and broke his heart, which was very cruel of her to do. I expected to dress in black leather and take a whip to the hero and all the men in her life, (can you say dominatrix)? The heroine' s behavior was not appropriate for a woman in this era. Her father is supposed to be the ladies of the heroine' s home, and he was only mentioned in the book, but did not take part in the story although he lived in the household; the author would have done better if she would have killed his character, it was just so ridiculous, I understand he had a drinking problem, but he should have played a bigger role in the story. It was just too unrealistic for the heroine to have a position of lairdess in that time era. The heroine was very unlikable throughout the entire book. She only changed and agreed to marry the hero after she was able to manipulate the hero to do what she wanted and on her terms. When she finally changed and began to reason a little, it was too little and much too late, I still detested her. The romance was nonexistent, the h/h did not declare their love for one another, even after their son was born, but I guess there was no time for that because the epilogue was very rushed and was only a few pages long. This was a very unsavory read for me. I would not recommend it, please don't waste your time and money. A word of advice to the author, if you want readers to like your books, don't make your primary characters so hateful and unreasonable.

By KElizabeth Green I read this particular book out of order, but I liked it so much that went back to be sure I had the first three. I was only missing one of the three, but was willing to pay more than I usually do, so that I could begin at the beginning. I loved the way the book began, (no, I'm not giving it away). If you have ever been forced into a role of responsibility and leadership, you will probably be better able to understand her seeming strong willed character. To suddenly be pushed aside and her accomplishments not acknowledged would hurt anyone I believe. Once having to assume that role (As the one in charge), it is very difficult to release our controlling natures and rely on someone else. I can identify with her as I was a divorced mom of two, with no child support or help of any kind from their I town fathers. Severe grief affects us all differently. Her father became an unresponsible authority figure by trying to drown his reality in a bottle. People don't always think clearly after a devastating death of a mate or loved one. Conn was smart to be able to read her so well and try to take the most nonconfrontational apporoch until he was able to bring her down from her perch of responsibility. She came around as did her father... Healing and trust take time! Being a submissive female did not come easily to all the young women throughout history... I can think of many who were described as selfish, difficult, bossy and spoiled, but some times that is just what it takes to survive. I loved this book, as I have enjoyed the others, and would easily recommend the entire series to my friends. We are all products of our environment and past experiences. I think the author portrayed that with insight and understanding, but that's just my opinion. I really do hate to spoil any book for others, so I'm trying to leave out a lot of the details. To each his own, but you might just be surprised by your own interpretation of the characters and the plot.

By Amazon Customer This book by Daniel Wendler could just as well be entitled: The Thinking Person’s Guide to Improving Your Social Skills. I say that because of the methodical, thoughtful and flowing way the author guides us through the complex maze of social interactions in which we find ourselves.I found the conversational process of using questions, which the author calls “invitations,” and the telling of something from our own experience that opens the conversation up for our partner to comment on or question, which the author calls “inspirations,” to be very helpful when breaking down the dynamic of a conversation.Being frequently in situations that require entering into a group conversation, such as at dinner parties or professional meetings, the section on helpful ways to enter into those group conversations, and also on the importance of including others in group conversations that we have already entered into, was very useful.One part of the book speaks to gauging the “energy level” of the person or group that you are entering into a conversation with. This is something I hadn’t thought of before, but is going to become an important part of my own process of entering into conversations and relationships.Finally, the chapters on meeting new friends and how to decide if those friendships are going to be healthy, along with how to maintain and nurture those relationships was the most satisfying to me personally. I have found that as you age, the process of identifying who might be a good friend and then figuring out how to maintain that friendship along with all the other priorities of life can be very difficult. I plan on utilizing the helpful information in those chapters to gain a new friendship and to nurture it once started.Bravo on a great book Daniel!

12 of 12 people found the following review helpful. I am grateful for this book By mom of 4 girls I was looking for a book to give to my daughter to help her with her social skills. She is 14 and does not have a diagnosis, but had shared with me that she struggles with certain social skills ( such as being aware that the feelings of others might be different than her own, or how to support a friend who is going through a difficult time). A lot of the books out there about improving your social skills are either too clinical, aimed at younger kids, or are meant for professionals looking to network better. I read this through before giving it to my daughter. I like the author's overall approach and the constant emphasis on sincerity and kindness in relationships. He presents social skills in terms of fairly easy to remember principles, rather than a lot of theory, abstract ideas, or case studies (there are some personal examples though). Although the target audience seems to be young adults, I found that it was very appropriate for my daughter. I was a little nervous about the chapter on relationships, but was relieved that the author's values align fairly well with my own and I felt comfortable with my daughter reading it. My daughter hasn't shared with me her thoughts about it ( but that's par for the course with her) but she was happy about the idea of having a book to refer to. It was actually a revelation to her that social skills are something that she can learn more about and get better at. I work in the special education field, and I will be recommending this book to students and parents.

Accessible and thorough By Robert Francis I was looking for a social skills primer because my career has transitioned from blue to white collar and the social cues in each of those worlds are completely different. At first I had a hard time finding something that taught middle class social skills at a basic enough level until I thought about who else needed the same kind of guides, people with Aspergers. Which led me here. And this book has been amazing. Im already fitting in better in the office and communicating in a way that makes sense to those around me. I can't recommend this book enough.

From the Author I just plain love history.  But it was not always so.  As a young student and college grad, I still thought history was pretty dull; dull as reading the message on a cereal box or those ridiculous labels on a pillow. Then somewhere in my 40s, I awoke.  Local history was all around me and it became an exciting scavenger hunt, finding who did what where I lived. I lived all over America, 'discovering' history in every neighborhood and city.Three college degrees later, I discovered my love of writing about history.  My first book was a culmination of three passions: writing, history and aviation.  I completed the book, "Pilots, Pinballs, and Politics: the History of Naples Municipal Airport".  It told the story of WWII's influence on aviation in SW Florida.  It became part of a PBS special on early WWII aviation. I was hooked. Writing could be fun.  And, then I moved to SE Tennessee and the grand Smoky Mountains. Local history included stories about General John Sevier, Gov. William Blount, Cherokee Indians, the Secret City and Senator Estes Kefauver; all men.  Where was the history of Tennessee women?  I could feel a book 'forming' in my brain. Then, I found her...lost in history. Mary Grainger Blount, the little known wife of Tennessee's first territorial governor.  Researching Molsey's life was an adventure, for no original sources remain from this woman. But, now, her story has been told in "Molsey Blount: the Colonial First Lady of Tennessee."  One side story for this book involves the current First Lady of Tennessee, Crissy Haslam.  As I was completing research for this book, a Tennessee Representative suggested I contact the First Lady to invite her to write the Foreword.  She graciously accepted, making this book unique with 'bookends' about our colonial First Lady and a Foreword from our current First Lady.  See.....I told you history was fascinating.

She lived an extremely difficult life, filled with loss and tragedy. Ms. McEntee did a phenomenal job researching her life and looks to be one of my favorite new authors.

An Emotional Biography of a Neglected First Lady By Laura Muntz Derr Molsey Blount is the emotional story of the life of the first “first lady” of Tennessee. Nancy McEntee boldly takes on a subject that has been neglected by history, the life of Molsey Blount, wife of the first colonial governor of Tennessee. Because so little is known about Molsey except through the filter of her husband’s life, the author's treatment requires imagination. McEnfee's interpretation of Molsey's life is strengthened by careful research that graphically places the reader in the pre-Revolutionary, colonial world and early days of nationhood. It contrasts the powerlessness of women’s lives with the remarkable courage of Molsey and women like her.

The way the tragic life of Molsey Blount was presented had me reading into the wee hours of the morning. There was so much I didn't know before reading this book, as most women of that time period lived their lives in the shadow of their men. The author's craftsmanship in writing made me feel like I was actually there, with her unique blend of historical fact and storytelling, making this book a literary gem. I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in the early history of Tennessee, colonial times, women's studies, or anyone looking for a great book on a little known subject. Well done Dr. McEntee!

Dozer The Chindits were a British India Special Force that served in Burma and India in 1943 and 1944 during the Burma Campaign in World War Two. The name Chindit is a corrupted interpreted name of the Burmese mythical beast Chinthay, the "gargoyle" like statues of which guarded Buddhist temples. They were formed into elite long range penetration groups trained to operate deep behind Japanese lines with minimal support. The operations were marked by prolonged marches though extremely difficult terrain by underfed troops weakened by malaria and illnesses such as dysentery. The Chindits were the brainchild of the British army's unconventional World War Two commander, Orde Wingate; devised while he was serving in the Far Eastern Theater in India. A continuing controversy over the force has centered on the extremely high casualty rate which it suffered and the debatable military value of its achievements.This book is huge (450 pages +/- few pages) and tomb of information on this elite organization. This is the benchmark historical study that will take many years for it to be out done by another author. This covers everything from inception to disbandment/deactivation of the unit. It highlights selection and training of men, equipment employed, pack animals used, living conditions and fieldcraft, as well as the meat of the book, all the major missions and operations. This book is also highly illustrated with maps, diagrams, line drawings and black & white photography. The book is large and heavy hardcover with done on quality paper. Giles I must confess to having a vested interest in this book but one which may still have some relevance to interested parties.The book has been written as a labour of love by Tony Redding with meticulous concern for accuracy and to create a real sense of 'being there'. It was initially conceived in recognition of the appalling Chindit campaign experienced by his own father and the many others like him. In order to achieve these goals, Tony interviewed considerable numbers of surviving Chindits and their relatives in diverse locations.He was also keen to find, and make use of, original pictorial evidence which reflected the ongoing situation in Burma as seen by serving soldiers rather than using the familiar, and oft repeated, official war correspondent and press images. Following this inspiration he was able to track down a surprising number of original photographs taken by serving soldiers, often with cameras acquired from captured enemy troops.This photographic record was uniquely captured and has never been seen in a previous publication. It is an invaluable resource providing an intimate glance into reality. Not surprisingly these images were often somewhat worse for wear and were nearly always very small. They were all analogue prints and needed to be digitalised for publication and archive purposes following on from the necessary restoration and enlarging processes. Over 150 of these have been used in the book.As the photographer responsible for this I inevitably got to know the prints very well indeed over quite a long period. I also got to know some of the surviving soldiers or their relatives too as part of the process. Consequently I became increasingly drawn into, not just the work that I was engaged to accomplish, but also the whole concept of the book and what it was trying to do.This book deserves all the recognition that it can get. The first edition sold out within hours following a television interview I believe and this next edition is also doing well. I also believe that the profits are being donated to the Chindits. It is a remarkable achievement and a gripping read - so well done Tony for a wonderful piece of dedicated work.

By pixie This book on the Chindit Special Force in occupied Burma during world war II is a really comprehensive and interesting account of the two expeditions, 1943 and 1944. Although I have not read other books on this subject, I really felt involved with this account, especially as a lot of the information was supplied by interviewed surviving Chindits themselves. My father was a Chindit, (not interviewed as he died 5 years ago in South Africa) and like so many others, did not talk about the experience. He was mentioned in the book which of course really made it personal for me! This book has given me so much information as well as bringing out much emotion. I felt as though I almost knew some of the people who were consistently interviewed by the time I had finished it! Really awesome and highly recommended to anyone who has an interest in this field. Thank you, Tony Redding, for giving me such an amazing insight into history.

The flow was excellent and easily paced so it wasn't a struggle to get through it. Several portions of the book made me chuckle as I visualized the situations. Other parts of the book made me think back to times in my own life that seemed overwhelming and now I look back and realize that it was nothing but the grace of God that brought me through. Christians would do well to share their REAL testimony. The facade wears thin after a while. The only problem I had with 'Loosed' is that there wasn't more of it.

Richards Sometimes it can be hard for a shorter-length book to feel complete with romance, but I think this book delivered that and in a very sweet, sexy and tender way.This hero has so much going for him: lumberjack, gentle giant, grizzly-shifter, but best of all was his true, tender heart. Such a protector. I just wanted to hug him hard. He's so sweet and sexy, and there was this almost innocent vibe to him as well. He'd blush, would be unsure of his words, kind of socially awkward, but eager to be and to do whatever this heroine needed or wanted from him. He knew exactly what to do in the bedroom, though. Their mating was hot to read. A sexy hero is even sexier when he's so into his heroine and wants only to make her happy.I really liked the heroine as well. She's sweet, wants to be touched and loved, but is wounded in so many ways, beaten down, and in a situation she hates. She can't believe how the hero respects and cares for her; she's just not used to that from a man. She's more used to being bruised and abused. It was rewarding to see her thrive in love and reclaim what had been taken from her. Also, I loved what her were-creature turned out to be. I was very curious about that!Never read this author before, and I don't know how I missed her PNR books. I enjoyed meeting this little enclave of were-bears in their trailer park on the mountain. Big, sexy lumberjack bears. How good is that? Soft, sweet and sexy, one of those romances where you think, This is a good man and a good woman, and they deserve to be happy together.

While he was physically strong he had issues you don't normally see in a shifter book. I've greatly enjoyed this author's books. Keep up the good work!

Each book in the series features a member of the crew of werebear lumberjacks who clear beetle killed forest, and each has it's own HEA. Joyce does an amazing job of bringing her stories to life with world building and character development. There is passion, suspense and an emotional connection. Additionally, she keeps the price affordable. I have this book on my reread and recommend lists and will be watching for the next book in the series. (P.S. If you like T.S.Joyce, you may also like Heather Long's PNR).Kellen is second to the new alpha of the Ash Crew of werebear grizzly lumberhacks. He is in town buying groceries for the crew when he meets a woman at the checkout. Kellen is outraged by the outward signs of physical and mental abuse and kidnaps her, taking her back to camp. Skyler ultimately agrees to spending one night, but Kellen's alpha recognizes who she is and the potential for war with her people, calling Kellen out on his actions. Kellen refuses to return her back to the abusive relationship, however, a relationship promoted and condoned by her family. Because he is determined to protect her until she is strong enough to stand up for herself. And Skyler soon agrees, but knows Roger, her intended mate, won't give up his claim on her, in spite of her decision or status with the werebear crew.

This is business consultant Simon West (first introduced to the reader in book one-Teaching the Boss), and event organizer Grace Bell. TEASING THE BOSS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty.Told from dual third person perspectives TEASING THE BOSS follows Grace as she attempts to clear her name in a scandal involving a married US senator. Caught by the paparazzi in the arms of said US senator hit Grace in more ways than one-her business as an events coordinator starting dropping off as she became persona non-grata in the social circles, and the reputation as the woman who broke up a senator’s marriage. What no one knew was that Grace has been set up as the fall girl for another one of the senator’s wrong doings. Enter Simon West-a business consultant whose clients required a no nonsense approach to getting the job done.When Simon discovers that Grace knows the man that Simon has been trying to take down, he offers Grace a deal she cannot refuse. Simon’s best friend committed suicide following an investment scandal that went horribly wrong, and Simon has spent months researching and investigating investment banker Mark DuFord and his connections to a billion dollar financial scheme. Simon and Grace will pretend to be lovers, with no strings attached, but the plan hopelessly fails when Grace begins to fall for the man in charge.The relationship between Grace and Simon begins as a business arrangement: Grace needs help repairing the damage brought about by the lies and tabloid innuendo, and Simon needs Grace to help him retrieve inside information about Mark Duford. What begins as a tentative friendship soon becomes something more but Simon knows that his relationship with Grace is only a temporary job, and in this Simon will begin to push Grace away when Mark shifts gears and aims his financial and political clout against Simon and Grace. The $ex scenes are intimate, provocative and hot without the over the top erotic feature but the sexual attraction between our couple felt off-everything seemed to be part of a business arrangement. I didn’t feel the need; the want; or the desire. Once again, there is little to no graphic or sexually explicit language. I want to add that I had a few issues with the lack of condom usage throughout the series, thus far. It is not enough for the female heroine to be on the BC pill, as our hero’s like to believe, because as we know, the only thing the BC pill prevents is a pregnancy –and even that isn’t 100% effective. In this day and age, I think the authors should be proactive with their storyline characters as it pertains to safe sex and the potential for sexually transmitted disease.The secondary characters include several of Grace’s clients, her co-workers and assistants, as well as a few new friends we will meet along the way. We will be introduced to Grace’s all-around go to guy Dean Carey, and billionaire businesswoman, and a friend of Simon’s, Victoria Green whose life will begin to fall apart as her father lies dying, and her ‘brat’ of a brother tries to regain control of the family business she saved from ruin. Dean and Victoria’s story will be told next in TEMPTING THE BOSS.Mallory Crowe’s world of self made billionaires looks at the not so pretty side of big business and the corporate world of high finance and power. Money makes for some strange bedfellows; greed forces men to choose; and betrayal is but a phone call away. The characters are colorful; the premise fast paced and revealing. A enjoyable read for a lazy afternoon.

By The eBook Investigator This book was a real pleaser and even a bit better than book one, in my opinion. I highly recommend you read this but my advice would be to start with book one. You'll get back story.I was not so sure I was going to be a fan of Simon's after the first book but boy was I wrong. I fell almost as much in love with him as Grace did. Simon, who can turn around any struggling business, appears arrogant and entirely too sure of himself...but in a way he has a may have a right to be with his track record in resurrecting businesses that are about to go under for whatever reason. When he is tracked down by Grace he has met his match. Grace is a strong, beautiful, confident, and endearing entrepreneur who started her own very successful company which specialized in planning galas. Unfortunately, she was set up to appear as though she was having an affair with a prominent politician which sent her biz plummeting. Enter...Simon to the rescue.Did I mention that Simon is a red-headed, hot, chiseled, god? Well, he most definitely is. A great read with interesting, well-developed characters. Do Not Miss This!!

This book sort of continues from the first as Simon was hired by the first books Hero as a consultant, but I am sure it can be read as a standalone since it really has no bearing on this book and the salient characters/plot of the first book is only vaguely alluded to once.I really like Grace. She was strong headed and driven and unwilling to give up no matter what happened in both her work and her private life. Simon was a very interesting character. While I assume he is the billionaire in the "Billionaires in the city" he never acted like one. He is driven to take down Mark DuFord at any price and when Grace comes along she just may offer the perfect opportunity. Simon eventually realizes that "any price" may be too much when Grace is involved.I actually liked this book more than the first. I am not sure who the 'boss' was that was being teased as Simon is a consultant so neither one is really the others boss. But I really liked both Grace and Simon. They both have a lot of heart and drive. Grace is clearly well loved by those around her and she puts her heart into her work. She is an event planner whose greatest joy is seeing her attendees truly have a good time. Simon while seemingly all business is driven by a personal tragedy, which just shows that in the end, he is really all heart too.As an aside I did the subscribe to get a free story thing that is highlighted in the book details, but I never received anything so I guess its "limited time" is over.

Fascinating Historical, Romantic Suspense By Renee Catherine Merit Matthews has experienced a lot in her 26 years, not all of it pleasant, but she has strength and fortitude beyond measure and has proved it over and over again. Having put herself through medical school she is now the only doctor in the small, southeastern Texas town of Rosenberg, and has been raising her five children by herself. While traveling through Texas for his job with an oil company, Trent Matthews is robbed, shot, and left for dead just outside of Rosenberg. He manages to get into town and Catherine treats his wound and allows him to recover in a small room over her stable.Having fallen in love during Trent’s recovery, he and Catherine are now married and expecting a child of their own. Trent must travel between Rosenberg and Houston for his job and is away for one to two weeks at a time. Because he is away so much Catherine has hired a French couple to help her run the large house, while she tends to her medical practice. She also employs a young lady as Nanny to the five children. Some of those she has employed are not what they appear to be and Catherine and Trent will learn the hard way that not everyone in their lives can be trusted.This is a fascinating story. Trent has married Catherine knowing that her past has been somewhat traumatic, but she has not told him all of her experiences. She knows she needs to tell him, but continues putting it off until her recurring nightmares threaten her own health and that of their baby. Then there is the story of Martin and Emily Boudreaux, Martin is the Matthews’ cook and Emily takes care of the house and helps with the children. Martin dreams of a life that does not involve being a servant to others and has begun working on a scheme that will make his dreams come true, but could easily destroy the happiness that the Matthews have found together.The story delves into the, at the time, quickly growing industry of child abduction for the purpose of selling them to parents who cannot have children of their own. It tells the story of both sides of the coin and is, at times, heart-wrenching. New inventions of the time, such as the telephone and automobiles, play major roles in the story flow and final outcome. Trent and Catherine’s love and faith will be tested and brought to the breaking point. Will they find the strength, one more time, to continue on?This book is very well written, with strong characters who will attach themselves to your heart before you know it. The story flows beautifully and holds your interest page to page with all of the mystery and action. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves reading historical, romantic suspense.

La Vigne Once again Nancy Brown takes us to southeast Texas as we encounter new adventures and challenges for Catherine and Trent Mathews and their family. After Catherine and Trent have been married, she learns she is once again pregnant with her fourth child. Martin Bordeaux, their cook and handyman who has served them for many months, sees this as an opportunity to line his pockets with more money than he ever made picking pockets of unsuspecting victims. He acquaints himself with a man whom he has scrutinized as another thief. Learning that this man is involved with the selling of children to parents who seek to adopt, Martin lays out his plan--he will provide a healthy baby in a few months for several thousand dollars. Martin has a plan, and his wife, Emily, is not included. Nancy Brown takes the reader into Martin's soul, showing the most despicable side of him not seen before. His devious plan to rid himself of his wife, and steal the Mathews' baby tugs at the reader's emotions as Trent and Catherine seek the return of their child, blaming themselves for the character flaw in Martin that they should have seen. Follow the sheriff and his deputies, and Trent's friends as they follow the trail through southeast and central Texas seeking the child and the man who kidnapped him. Nancy Brown has created a suspense-filled story that challenges Catherine and Trent like they had never been challenged before.

Both are excited as they await the birth of their first child.In addition to living in a family-centered neighborhood, they are privileged in that they are able to afford a maid/nurse/baby sitter as well as a French cook named Martin Boudreaux. Their lives appear perfect. But appearances can be deceptive. Just when everything is going well, tragedy strikes.
