While I, personally, would not live my life currently like this, I do not judge others for doing so. It is true, it is a lifestyle as old as time and in some cultures, considered normal and expected. I felt like I was sitting down having drinks and discussing this with the author. I remember growing up, people would throw out phrases like, "Marry a doctor!" or "Marry a lawyer!" with the notation that these people had money and you would be living a lavish life. I think this book just scratches the surface of this "taboo" topic, and like with anything else in life, if it's not your thing, just keep walking.

This is an in-your-face, brash book that doesn't pull ANY punches. I haven't heard of Nina before this book, but I am definitely going to look more into her after this.I received a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest & fair review. Full disclosure makes me a classy broad, y'know.Anyhoo, back to Nina. This is a touchy topic, because everyone has their own thoughts about whether it's right for people to exchange their time/bodies/pleasures for money. I LOVED THIS BOOK because it's gender neutral. It's not about old men "trapping" younger women. It also makes it clear that sugar babies come from all walks of life. It's not just the struggling college student trying to make ends meet, or someone that's desperate. This mirrors many of the observations I've had over the years.I thought Nina covered the bases very well, and her stories are really what makes the book come to life. If you haven't heard about her friend Caro, I won't spoil it for you. Trust me, he's hilariously described here. And Rita. And Isabel. And...well, you'll have to find out.She gets a little historical, which fits the tone of the book perfectly. What is touched on is the fear of women gaining full power and autonomy over their own lives. This book is part rah-rah, you-go-girl, mixed with a little JUST BE HAPPY, OKAY?Maybe we all need that lesson.The only drawback for me about this book was that it was shorter than I wanted. Nina pulls you into her world, but the ending feels like a cliffhanger. Feed us more, Nina! Ok, ok...thank you for what you have given us, but more would be fantastic. :)

Interesting thesis - written horribly, couldn't finish because it was so difficult to read By Bean I started reading this fully expecting the "F" word to be used but the author uses it so profusely that it makes reading the book nearly impossible. It's an intriguing thesis but using a single word as a substitute for so many meanings is confusing to read and the word itself is meant to be jarring which makes reading it over and over again on a single page unpleasant.
