** 2015 Goodreads Choice Awards Finalist ** Kensington Worth had a vision for her senior year. It involved her best friends, her posh private school in downtown Chicago and time alone with her piano until her audition was perfected, a guaranteed ticket into the best music programs in the world. Instead, a nightmare took over. It didn’t happen all at once, but her life unraveled quickly—a tiny thread that evil somehow kept pulling until everything precious was taken from her. She was suddenly living miles away from her old life, trapped in an existence she didn’t choose—one determined to destroy her from the inside, leaving only hate and anger behind. It didn’t help that her neighbor, the one whose eyes held danger, was enjoying every second of her fall. Owen Harper was trouble, his heart wild and his past the kind that’s spoken about in whispers. And somehow, his path was always intertwined with Kensington’s, every interaction crushing her, ruining her hope for any future better than her now. Sometimes, though, what everyone warns is trouble, is exactly what the heart needs. Owen Harper was consumed with darkness, and it held onto his soul for years. When Kensington looked at him, she saw a boy who’d gotten good at taking others down when they threatened his carefully balanced life. But the more she looked, the more she saw other things too—good things…things to admire. Things…to love. Things that made her want to be reckless. And those things…they were the scariest of all. ** This book is a standalone with no cliffhanger. A second, full-length companion novel about a related character, Andrew Harper, is out now. Wicked Restless also available on Amazon. **

Review
- A 2015 Goodreads Choice YA Fiction Book of the Year Nominee
- "I know it's sometimes frowned upon to make book comparisons. But I can't help it. I just want you to understand the fun 'romance thrill' factor of this one. The 'old-school' new adult feel that it brought me back to, back in our 'new indie' days. 'Cause it gave me that 'Slammed' feel (the family and friends), with a touch of 'Easy.' BUT to give you an idea of the thrill it was giving me...picture that initial 'Twilight' feel (remember in the beginning when she was in the cafeteria and seeing 'him' and his crew). And for that matter... Beautiful Disaster, too." 4.5 stars from Maryse's Book Blog
- "I really enjoyed this story. It dealt with some very heavy themes for being YA but it made the impact of the book that more powerful. I recommend this one to anyone looking for a book that will suck you right in!" Three Girls and a Book Obsession
- "It's impossible not to love the characters, the story, and ultimately the way Ginger Scott perfectly captures the teenage experience." FicCentral Reviews
- "Wild Reckless is one of those books that just marks you, something you know will stay with you when you think about those memorable stories that you're so glad you read. I can't recommend it highly enough." Ellen from Always YA at Heart
- "Ginger Scott's writing is engaging and beautiful. She helps you remember that time in your life where everything, including falling in love, was overwhelming." Ana - The Book Hookup
- "The plot was dark and heavy, balanced by the rare fun and sweet moments, and the entire story had my attention in a vice grip - I couldn't look away even if I wanted to. This book is one of my top favorites of the year for sure!" Book Vigilante Reviews

Ginger Scott delivered such a beautiful book full of heart. I was captivated by Kensi and Owen’s heartbreaking and powerful story from the first page to the very last. That prologue knocked the wind out of me. My heart was already aching as I attempted to prepare myself for what would clearly be an emotional journey for these characters. I went through such a range of emotions with this book. I laughed, I cried, and I had to punch a pillow quite a few times.Poor Kensi. At her age it is difficult to change schools and leave your friends behind, and then her life went from bad to worse. That betrayal rocked me to my core. Through it all, though, Kensi remained amazingly strong. She was intelligent, talented, and compassionate. The way Owen treated her in the beginning of the book was infuriating and humiliating, but she kept her head held high and still managed to see the good in him. Even though she was young, she never felt that way to me. I loved how she challenged Owen. Kensi may have been a sweet girl, but she was also gutsy.Owen does not make a good impression when he first appears on the scene. I couldn’t even imagine going through what he did at such a young age, but that didn’t give him the right to treat anyone the way he did Kensi. He was downright cruel. Naturally there was more to Owen than we saw in those initial chapters, and I slowly found myself coming around to like him. He certainly didn’t make it easy, but the weight of the responsibility he was shouldering was immense. His love for his family is ultimately what caused me to soften and then fall in love with him.To say Kensi and Owen’s relationship was volatile would be an understatement. They were both broken and hurting in their own ways. While I adored them together, there were times when I wasn’t quite sure if they would make it through the difficult times. As I’m writing this I can feel my heart beating fast at the memory of the intensity of their love for one another. Owen loved fiercely, and Kensi never once faltered in her feelings for him. The way they both encouraged each other to follow their dreams was wonderful.Scott tackled some serious topics in this story, and she did so with sensitivity and depth. The pain and struggle of these characters was palpable, and the push and pull between them had me on edge for the entire book. Wild Reckless truly spoke to my heart. I know some people shy away from the Young Adult genre, but I would implore you to give this book a chance. You will not regret it. It is impossible not to fall in love with Kensi and Owen and their unique, moving story. The raw beauty of this book should not be missed.

She breathes life into her characters. Wild Reckless is no exception. You feel this because of the words of this story. Because those words? They become everything...“He’s hiding, but I see him.”Kensington (Kensi) Worth had plans for her senior year. Those plans were a bit derailed as she was forced to move from the city to a small town due to her dad’s new job. As an amazing piano player, Kensi is going places. However if her dad has anything to do with it, she will not be playing the blues as she so much more prefers. As she is settling in, she notices the dark eyes of her neighbor, which she later learns is Owen Harper. Owen lives on the edge, at all times. He is danger. Those Harper boys are known for that because of their history. And everyone knows that, including Kensi. When Kensi’s world comes crashing down, everything she knows is ripped away from her. Life isn't the same. Owen Harper finds his way into her life and eventually her heart.“Owen Harper is everything.”THAT PROLOGUE. My heart is still reeling over it. Without giving too much detail, it starts at a fair. I swear it was like the author placed me in that very moment. I heard everything. Smelled everything. Felt everything. I was so consumed and lost in the moment. I fell for Owen Harper the moment I saw his name on a page. For everything he’s been through, for everything he’s seen. His heart, although shadowed with darkness, it is the most beautiful.“And I’m afraid I’m losing myself to danger-the worst kind that rules your heart.”Owen pushes people away further giving in to the notion of his dark, wild, and dangerous heart. He is afraid to love. As love has only brought him guilt, pain, and loss. But Kensi sees pass the darkness. She sees Owen and his light. She sees the most self-less person. He puts those he cares for before himself. Always. Owen has the biggest heart as he loves with absolute conviction all while believing he is not worthy of being loved. Until Kensi. You FEEL his heart slowly open. He falls hopelessly, irrevocably, and effortlessly in love. And it’s beautiful. It’s overwhelming. It’s reckless. And that’s the kind of love that makes my heart flutter as I read their story.“I love you...but I will suffocate you. Drown you. Loving me...it will kill you.”If I could call the love between Owen and Kensi, I would call it inspirational. They inspire each other to want to achieve every single goal they have set for themselves. Their love lit the spark in their hearts to go after what they want. The moment Owen set his eyes on Kensi, I FELT his soul breathe. Their love transcends, it shatters everything dark in their lives.“...Because I think I need you to survive. I think I need you to love me, because that’s literally all I’ve got.”Wild Reckless is deep. It shatters the usual cookie cutter recipe for Mature YA. So much happens in Kensi’s life that serves as a catalyst for Owen’s life to completely change. He no longer exists. He’s living. He’s loving. His shattered pieces from his childhood become whole again. But the road to love is not so easy. Wild Reckless is a brilliant story about love, life, and loss and what happens when you truly listen to your heart-regardless of how reckless it may seem. That no matter how scary circumstances are, your heart will never lead you astray as it always ends up where it belongs. So live. Choose love. Always. For love endures. It never falters.

Since you mended it, I guess I forgive you. There are some stories that are dark and they offer no sense of hope. This is not one of those, and I am grateful for that. It's hard to read about real life, and while authors offer many elements that are real, they also get to choose the endings, the tone, and to an extent, the characters' actions and reactions. Sometimes, the overwhelming pain can be too much for me as a reader, and I have to put a book down. With Kensington and Owen, although I was in pain, I never wanted to put them down. Their first Ferris wheel ride together, their first actual conversation, the way they grew as people, I fell in love. Drama can be done well, or it can be too much. As a writer, there are subjects you absolutely can't use as plot devices if you are just USING them. Mental illness, addiction, rape... a reader knows when these are only used to be a drama device and it's hard to read. The issues dealt with in this story were organic to the characters, something that the reader understood and felt and wished could be a different way. It's not simply a love story - Wild Reckless is a story of people, of pain, of learning which decisions are the best ones, even if they're the hardest. And it's a story of wanting too much, in some instances, and watching that too much slip away. Happiness, for some people, is simply too much. I am so grateful that Kensington and Owen found theirs, though, because I needed it as much as they did:)Congrats again, Ginger, you've hit another out of the park. I think we can all agree that you have a right to love this baby the best.
