8 of 10 people found the following review helpful. Rogue Hellions, Kidnapped Loves and PTSD By Knock it off; I'm Reading! I won't lie; if it has been awhile since you read the first one, you NEED to review. There are a lot of terms (Nagual, hellion, k'ul), and back history that is given prior to chapter one. There is NO review once the story gets going and it starts right from where the last one stopped. I thought I could "wing it", but it has been three months since I read and loved the first one and I was confused. This series reminds me of Bayon/Jean-Baptiste (Bayou Heat) and Raphael/Parish (Bayou Heat) by Laura Wright and some of the other alpha male "brothers" finding their mates and kicking ass. (Gena Showalter, J.R. Ward, Sherrilyn Kenyon type guys).Characters: We learned last book that Diesel is having nightmares and anxiety from his time as a medic in Iraq. He lost his best friend to an IED and blames himself. In short, he has PTSD. Doctor Helen is 30 years old and gorgeous. She has to stay at the Mansion for her safety and is helping Diesel with his PTSD when they "discover" they are second soul mates. To me, their relationship was not nearly as romantic, volatile or fun as Ana and SE's. Ana and SE are also main stories and Richard and Adriana are new parents and fun to read about. Troy is still following Evy around and keeping his life private. The new kid James comes into his powers and appears to be gay.Writing Style: I loved the first story in the series because the relationship between SE and Ana was HOT and exciting. I loved Victrixa as a leading bad guy who was revengeful and wicked beyond belief. She really isn't in this one much. This one had a lot of alternating stories, but nothing half as exciting as SE and Ana's turbulent relationship. There was a slightly depressing air to this one that kept me reading, if only to look for the silver lining. I am REALLY not a fan of all the foul language that is used profusely by every character. It really is somewhat abrasive but somewhat typical of paranormal stories.Plot: Victrixa is the head of the Initiative which consist of shifters and hellions that are determined to kill other shifters and steal their K'ul (supernatural energy) and their Naguals or guiding spirits and animal counterparts. The opposing team is The Order which consists of the New Breed who are shifters that are chosen by the Goddess and who use super abilities to fight against the hellions. Both sides have paranormal abilities that help them in battle. Some hellions have mutated into Rogues who retain their intelligence and band together to kill humans for their K'ul. The Order now has to fight against these new and improved hellions who are very dangerous.Romance: The sex was between Helen and Diesel in this one and it was hot, but.... It just didn't measure up to Ana and SE's love story. I hated that Diesel called Helen, "Doc". I would almost prefer "baby" and I hate that one. "Doc" just sounds too clinical or motherly and not at all sexy or endearing, IMO.Sex and Violence Rating: Rx - Oral Sex, Descriptive Sex, F-word often, BS, GD, Sht, Btch, MF, etc... profanity is used A LOT, There is not really a cliff-hanger; just some incomplete stories. This is a series with multiple story lines and not all are resolved.4 Stars - It was good because I love the characters, has an excellent price, and I will probably buy the next one when it comes out.

I really enjoy have the author wove the characters from the first novel into the second. I am hoping the three will do the same. The characters were strong and interesting. The story held my interest. The introduction of the goddess was a little strange, but I liked it.Another great read.

Struggled By Fallon I struggled a bit with this one, with all the jumping around between characters and the transition between scenes wasn't always obvious. I didn't feel a whole lot of tension to keep me turning the page. And I didn't care for the cliffhanger ending. But, I still want to know what happens so will most likely pick up the next one.
