Violet Duke is a good writer with a strong voice, good characterization, and the story has been well-edited. I loved Connor, and her description of him and how he unfolded as a character. Abby was built well, but I didn't love her as a character. I'm giving this story a three star because of these reasons, to be fair, although my end feeling when I got to the end was definitely a 2 star.What I disliked:This isn't a full story. I was really frustrated with this because I saw "book 1" and assumed that this would be part of a series, but it would be a self-contained story within itself. I suppose I should have paid more attention, but I think that it should have been labeled "part 1" or "episode 1" rather than "book 1" because the last implies a certain level of completeness that isn't there.What I really hate is that apparently the second book is going to be Brian and Abby's story. For the record, Brian is the "best friend" who Abby has pretty much been the emotional rock for and served as his daughter's surrogate mother because his wife had Huntingdon's. My hate goes in two directions: if Brian does end up with Abby, I'm going to be incredibly peeved because then the entire first episode would have just been a tease and I hate being teased. If Connor ends up with Abby, which is what I think should happen because Connor really deserves someone amazing, then I'm going to have to pay for a full episode that I don't really want to read because I'm not interested in Abby and Brian, I'm interested in Abby and Connor and now I'll have to wait for an indeterminate amount of time to actually get the full story.Can I mention again that I hate serials? The thing is, I don't feel like this needed to be a serial. This could easily just have been a slightly longer than usual book.When I reached the end I felt cheated, like I got bait and switched, which I really dislike. I'm going to get the next two episodes because I want to know what happens, but I'm going to be extremely wary in the future when buying from this author.

The writing was wonderful and the story was real and believable. Conner is a bad boy who doesn't do relationships and Abby is funny and sexy and sure of herself. They meet, again, and they have instant chemistry. The dialog is so great that you laugh out loud and you really connect with the characters. It's not the same old story of boy meets girl, they fall in love, he messes it up then begs her to come back and HEA. Nope. But it's a must read!

I liked this book very much. Besides romantic love affairs, there were also full of family love, brothers' love, friends' love. The author has done a great writing, I could not but be moved by the love between these characters.And it's funny and humorous too. I could not stop smiling when Abby and Connor were negotiating the duration of their dating arrangement! Incredibly funny. Yet, one drawback about the book that I did not like so much was the sex scenes were too graphical, that's not necessary. The story was good enough and attractive without these spices.Nevertheless, I like this book as much and could not put it down without finished reading to its last page. I cannot wait to start the second book to know what's going on to happen on them and I am lucky that I have not started the first book before all three are ready.
