By Jeff B “Remembering to Breathe: 5 Easy Exercises for Caregivers to Reclaim a Healthy Work-Life Balance” is the perfect book for nurses, nurse assistants, doctors, or anyone who works as a caregiver. Whether it’s in a hospital or nursing home, assisted living center or day care center, this book is chock full of working strategies to help you deal with the stress of your day-to-day job and not let it ruin your home life. For that matter, many of these tips would be helpful for anyone who works in a stressful environment (and who doesn’t?)The exercises that Melissa Valdellon outlines are both practical and effective, and are designed to nip your stress triggers in the bud and help you work your way through them. The book is well-written and perfectly organized, and has several alternatives for when a particular exercise just doesn’t fit your lifestyle. One of the most effective exercises for me has been to live in gratitude. Valdellon suggests taking some time at the end of each day to list at least three things you are grateful for. This helps put the day into perspective, setting aside the negatives of the day and focusing instead on the positives.All in all, this is an excellent book well worth the time to read it. It will help you deal with your stress in more positive ways, leaving you a happier, more carefree (and productive!) person.
