0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. An exceptional through treatment By David S Dalrymple A book that was difficult to put down yet very disturbing at times. World war I is an area my background has little material. I saw this title and downloaded a sample and was hooked. While the difference in time would change many of the expected practices, theory and sheer mindset the aura of the period some of the practices of then disturbed the soldiers in the trenches. While reading about how's, why's, and the pits and pieces of trench warfare and the western front it is hard imagine what the simple horrors of survival let alone combat it is easy see why people reached their breaking point and "deserted". While the 300 odd British soldiers who were executed I'm sure many more were not reported and slipped thru the system. A good read but disturbing at times!
